twitchyzero 01-08-2009 08:59 AM

HDTV isn't even mainstream yet..i doubt we'll see 3D TV anytime soon.

hotjoint 01-08-2009 10:50 AM

cool

unit 01-08-2009 10:53 AM

its not obsolete until 3dtv is mainstream or at least available to consumers.

probably another 4-5 years before ppl have this in their homes if its only commercially available in 2011.

Manic! 01-08-2009 11:58 AM

Too bad there is no content.

120hz tv's look so fucked up, I dunno who would buy one on purpose if u plan on watching any sort ofmovies

BlackV62K2 01-08-2009 02:32 PM

I have a 120hz Sony XBR4. I don't really notice any issues watching movies with it.

Presto 01-08-2009 02:34 PM

There's an option to toggle 120Hz mode.

nsmb 01-08-2009 03:48 PM

120hz is only good for sports and video games

they had a bluray player hooked up so a bravia LCD in Bestbuy playing a movie, and everything looked like it was in fast motion to me, but if theres a toggle to it i guess it really doesnt matter

3DTV is like you get sucker punched or smoke a pound of weed in front of a TV.

there's a 3D LCD TV demo at the train station near my place. The picture looks so fucked up and make you feel so dizzy.

Hondaracer 01-08-2009 06:34 PM

im interested to see this..

any local displays?

asian_XL 01-08-2009 07:11 PM

^ it's no different from watching IMAX 3D without glasses, but in WAAAY smaller screen

I am not sure if the one I see is the same technology as the LG one...I need to stand
right in front of the TV (can't be at an angle) to make it looks perfect and the contrast/brightness
is quite low for no reason.

twitchyzero 01-08-2009 09:03 PM

120hz looks good once you get used to it.
and i would guess the 3D TV would need programming and movies that support it.

!Aznboi128 01-08-2009 10:02 PM

i got a xbr4 and on motionflow(120hz) its just set to standard most of the time... its pretty horrible to play games/watch movie on enhanced

popnGEAR 01-08-2009 11:05 PM

what good is 120hz when games don't render that fast?

Such a low percentage games even achieve 60hz, I would shudder to think what the games would look like in order for it to run 120hz. Personally, I would rather have a better looking 30-60hz game then a crummy looking 120hz game. I am a bit biased too as I think 120hz looks odd.

Great68 01-09-2009 09:42 AM

120Hz is a gimmick. You are watching a FAKE image. The microprocessor in the TV is making interim frames.

It would be different if the SIGNAL was actually broadcast with a higher framerate.

underscore 01-09-2009 10:35 AM

I tihnk 3DTV's will only really be used at tradeshows and stuff to showcase products in 3D, I don't see it being very practical for watching movies and such. it's still wicked cool tho.

VrrM604 01-15-2009 01:55 AM

Sony has the 240Hz XBR7 Series TVs...
