thanks bud! what do you mean they arent keen about ringtones?

Inaii 01-14-2009 11:08 PM

They're normally business people and don't care about having "cool" song ringtones.

Ringtones (make it yourself, just cut and place in ringtone folder of your microsd)
Songs (just place in music folder)
Wallpapers (cut to your size, google the res of your screen)
Themes (download plasmic loader thingie, and then either make your own or download free ones everywhere)
Games (well... games don't really apply to blackberry's as their java sucks. Make sure you're using at least 4.5-4.6 for most features and such.

Oh and to receive bluetooth files from other bluetooth capable handsets, make sure you go into media --> folder you want it in (music, ringtones, pictures) --> and then menu --> receive using bluetooth (turn on bluetooth at this step if not already, and then wait for other user). To send to them, you must be paired with them prior to sending, and then they will show up in your list.

It's also quite hard to install CJK (chinese, japanese, korean) if there's no real OS with that pre-loaded as well. However some people need that for song titles, and they MUST be encoded properly to show up. I can help with this if you need it

It's hard to find definitive answers (esp to that bluetooth q) in a scene where everyone is business oriented and has accepted BBry's for the awesome business phones they are.

I personally just hate the kids that use them cuz "they're cool". *COUGH SHUYA80 COUGH* ;)

In any case, if you have any questions, i'm certified by RIM :)

I'm a blackberry user and I certainly don't care about the ring tones. They could have more games though

You can get more games. There's Zelda, Pacman, Tetris, Texas Hold'em, Circle Pop(Bubble Bobble clone), some spaceship game....to name a few. They keep me busy!

Blackberry messenger doesnt cost anything extra, provided that you already have a data plan

411ken 01-15-2009 11:39 AM

For you Rogers guys... how much do you pay for Data plan? can u use the BB messenger using WIFI?

Im a noob.

I dont believe you can since it has to go through the blackberry network

Data plans arent that expensive, technically I'm only paying $11 for data alone; before I renewed I was paying $45.xx for my plan

Now with the data I'm paying $56.50/month

However I believe data plans start at what, $15? (someone correct me if Im wrong) but it doesnt give you very much

I think its best to start with $25/500mb per month, if you're an average user, you will NEVER go over that limit

411ken 01-15-2009 11:59 AM

^ Thanks man. =)

Does the BBM use up a lot of data? same goes for browsing, checking emails, and can u even go on msn? lol.. i think it would use a lot though eh.

TIA for the help.

Nope, it hardly uses anything, blackberries are good at compressing the data.
On average I think each page loaded on the browser is about 90kb?
I would imagine each bbm or msn message would be much less than that

Trust me, you'll have a very hard time going over 500mb
I only got up to about 50mb, but thats because I was sending themes to myself, some were about 500kb each

411ken 01-15-2009 12:12 PM

Ok, last question...for a while anyway.

Is this a good deal? ran into it when i looked at the rogers site http://your.rogers.com/store/wireles...sonalemail.asp

15$ for unlimited email,etc.

I dont think that counts as a "data plan"

411ken 01-15-2009 12:26 PM

I mean for just email purposes. i guess that would be a good deal..

or maybe i'll try the 25$ one

Go with one of those value packs

Shun Izaki 01-15-2009 01:37 PM

I'm good with my ultd e-mail + pin plan. Lets me communicate overseas with friends in hong kong or otherwise without incurring huge charges... and no real need for WLM mobile, since I had that before, and it gets a little too fucking annoying considering that people will message you at all hours or whatever.

Oh and on my Telus Bbry, i pay $8.63 a month for everything :P

411ken 01-15-2009 04:31 PM

^That's pretty cheap.

Is this any good? $20.00 VP
CLID / Enhanced VM / UL SMS/ MMS / UL browsing / UL Email with mobile mail / MObile backup / WHocalled

Unlimited browsing,Unlimited email.. all i want for it is to browse without worrying about going over and use messaging features.

edit: come to think of it though, my plan already has CLID, Whocalled... id rather ask u guys than rogers' csrs cuz they are ridiculous so thank you for answering
