One of the retired BA concordes is located on a barge at a NYC aviation museum

Major props to the pilots..

+100 for the pilot...amazing the plane landed intact in the water.

no_mercy 01-18-2009 01:21 PM

the fbw on the airbus really helped the pilot land the aircraft. the pilot was able to fly the slowest without stalling the aircraft. so upon landing, he was at the slowest but safest speed to hit the water thanks to stall protection software

no_mercy 01-18-2009 01:22 PM

btw, no doubt the captain's skill and experience played a huge part in the gliding.

thumper 01-18-2009 04:56 PM

whoa did you see the person falling off the wing around 1:20 in the clip above? someone (wearing a white shirt so it might have been one of the flight crew) had to go and fish him out :o

i am amazed at how fast everyone on a boat responded within that 7-1/2 minutes that footage covered... takes me longer than that to drag myself out of bed for work every morning

Of course the thrust from the engine isn't enough for the birds to become sucked right through the screens or for the screen to clog up with other debris, is it Einstein?
