Props to the pilot who glided that plane in perfectly on water.

hayai 01-15-2009 07:54 PM

Birds 1... plane 0... Props to the pilot

Dinan3 01-15-2009 08:54 PM

damn, I wonder what was going through those people's mind when the plane was going down. Intense.

alex.w *// 01-15-2009 09:01 PM

the bird strike must be intense

normally the engine is wayy powerful than the bird, unless the bird jammed the engine

jimzilla 01-15-2009 09:11 PM

must of been some big birds

Yeah, I wonder how many birds must've gone in the engine to totally kill both engines!

I've had some close calls at Boundary Bay... damn seagulls and eagles! Fuckin white-knuckle take-offs LOL.

Actually it's quite easy for a bird to damage an engine... :) It takes just 1 small bird and the engine goes poof.

Speed2K 01-15-2009 09:47 PM

I read somewhere that it was a flock of birds.

Harvey Specter 01-15-2009 10:03 PM

Yup, it was a flock but the chances of both engines failing is remarkable.

f00tzilla 01-15-2009 10:45 PM

do the passengers get a 'golden pass' like in lost ? lol

wyattH 01-15-2009 10:46 PM

props to pilot. im so surprised and happy nobody was hurt.

Rogue951 01-15-2009 11:18 PM

Props to the ferry boats that swarmed the plane and got everyone off so fast.
the rescue pics were amazing.
It's so rare for the plane to actually land intact into the water.
I mean the chances of this kind of accident happening with this survival rate is one in millions.

maxxxboost 01-15-2009 11:27 PM

Wow, intense!
glad everyone got out ok. Props to the pilot indeed. He made sure everyone was out before he left.

iEatClams 01-15-2009 11:50 PM

man, the pilot deserves an award. it takes balls to stay calm and land the plane perfectly in water without anyone dieing.

Noir 01-16-2009 12:34 AM

Props to the pilots. Hopefully it won't be long 'til we see their work on Mayday? :D

Super Dipper 01-16-2009 12:39 AM

incredible.

Harvey Specter 01-16-2009 03:33 AM

This can happen, usually just get a nice mess down the side of the plane and some paperwork to fill out :)

Props on a succesful ditch.

thumper 01-16-2009 05:33 AM

the said on CNN last night that it was a flock of canada geese. we all know how big they are... some expert the interview said launch a bunch of bowling balls into an engine under power and you get the idea of the damage it can do.

so...

canada geese = WMD

next thing you know homeland security will label all of canada terrorists because of this jk ;)

hal0g0dv2 01-16-2009 05:40 AM

shit that must of been fucking scary

LemonH2O 01-16-2009 09:37 AM

i wonder what's going through your head when you hear the pilot say "brace yourselves, we're going down hard"

Gordo.Blue 01-16-2009 10:06 AM

madd skills =)

iEatClams 01-16-2009 11:41 AM

Most of the news these days are negative. It's actually pretty nice to have people calling the pilot a "HERO". We see soo many murderers, corporate criminals etc. It's nice to have a story about someone that saved people's lives.
