Another bodyshop question...

most of the local bodyshop can fill those holes & re-paint your trunk.
$300-400 cost

I would think any body shop could fix that. Pretty simple / basic repair. Or you could just find a user trunk or buy a carbon fiber one

Looks like an Si sedan, right? Just find someone with a Rallye Red sedan who's willing to trade you + cash. It will be much easier - direct bolt-on (although you'll need to install a 3rd brake light).

Screw the 3rd brake light, I'll play my chances. Or I can get one of those license plate frames with the LED light and wire that up...

Cant find anyone with a spoiler-less trunk that wants to swap I think it's the LX grade that has the spoiler-less trunk, and they have the key slot on it...not sure how that'll work...

do you think squirrels could jerk-off into the holes?

Fixing that would be a waste of time.

The labor to weld the holes and do the bodywork is way more than the cost of a replacement decklid.

You *might* even be able to order a decklid already factory painted and have it bolted on.

Even if you can't, a new decklid sprayed and installed is a million times better than a welded up one.

I thought the procedures of filling holes are filling them with putties and sanding it flat? At least that's what I've been told...

Yeah I'll do a bit more research on other methods of getting a non-holed up trunk lol. Wouldn't have to deal with so much trouble if only the stock ones look better...

i cant believe how badly people underestimate good bodywork.

$300 would barely get the trunk prepped and painted properly. filling those holes properly (NOT filling them with bondo, actually welding them up) would up that price to $1000 easily.

like the guy who wanted a new rear quarter pannel on his civic and people told him he could get one on ebay for $100 and installed for another $200. new sheet metal in fenders done properly is a $2k job easily. and thats not counting the fact that the rest of the car would need to be painted to match too.

$1000 would be a little overkill.

A decent shop could weld those holes in properly plus fill them for around $400-500

Really not worth it though.

filling them with filler and then sanding it is not the proper way of filling holes.

looking at all those holes, for them to be filled proper means some labout. eg, welding in those holes or something.

might be cheaper for u to source out a spoilerless trunk, then have it repainted.

This job is a must weld if you want it done properly.
Lets say the bodyshop just fills the holes with bodyfiller then sands it down.
Only place that filler has to hold on to is the edge of the hole.
Those holes would just end up sinking or even getting poked out.
Probably best for you to just get a new trunk, then maybe sell this current one to get most of your money back.

put duct tape over them.
Then paste carbon fiber stickers over the duct tape.

Tell people it's a carbonfiber millimeter grade duck tail.
