Anyone know how far the traffic is backed up before the Alex Fraser Bridge on Nordel way?

I have a flight at 9am on Wednesday and was wondering what time I should leave to ensure I get there in time. I'm coming from Fleetwood.

right before, brah? I was on 152nd heading north and the traffic was clogged back to the fraser intersection. this was friday night 7pm.

Rated B 01-24-2009 04:38 PM

^ Yeah there was an accident or something around 4-5pm. I saw cops just before the port mann bridge as I was heading south.

SoulCrusher 01-24-2009 05:11 PM

It took me almost 90 minutes from Fleetwood to Westwood Friday evening which normally takes 20 minutes. :(

if his flight leaves at 9 then he should be at the airport no later then 7:30..
I'd say leave by 6. Its better to be early and sit at the airport then to miss your flight.

Graeme S 01-24-2009 07:36 PM

he means AM 730, the radio station.

TransLink just announced the Pattullo Bridge will re-open tomorrow morning at 6am, ahead of the two weeks originally scheduled. The bridge has been closed since last weekend when a major fire destroyed a wooden support structure at the south side of the crossing.

The Pattullo Bridge, damaged by a fire last Sunday, is set to reopen Monday morning at 6 a.m. PT.

That's at least one week earlier than estimated.

The bridge was closed early last Sunday morning after a fire damaged a wooden trestle that supports the 72-year-old span's south end.

The bridge, which connects Surrey and New Westminster, B.C., across the Fraser River, moves more than 80,000 vehicles every day in Metro Vancouver.

The closure created havoc for rush-hour commuters in Surrey, Delta and New Westminster, as many were forced to take alternate routes.

Aided mainly by the fact that they found existing pre-made bridge sections they could just drop into place.... and the fact that crews kicked ass 24/7 to get everything else cleaned up and prepped for them.

As much as people bitch about Translink, gotta give'em major props for this!

hotjoint 01-26-2009 06:58 AM

lets see if anything happens to the people using that bridge today :)

quasi 01-26-2009 07:20 AM

Apparently a lot of people didn't get the memo because the bridge is nice and dead right now no pun intended. :)

Noir 01-26-2009 08:45 AM

Sweet. So now what do they do about the bums to prevent them from coming back under the bridge?

abinga 01-26-2009 11:24 AM

Has anyone used it? I need to go that way this evening and not have to turn around.
