Baby dials 911, snitches on dad's grow-op

"This is a little too young to develop a telephone habit -- or to become a snitch, for that matter.

An 11-month-old boy in White Rock, B.C. accidentally dialled 911 and brought police to dad's marijuana grow operation.

Mounties say a 911 call came in from a residence Friday morning, but whoever was on the other end of the line hung up.

Officers arrived at the home and White Rock R-C-M-P Constable Janelle Canning says the 29-year-old man inside, startled by the sudden sight of police, insisted he hadn't made the call.

That's when police spotted the baby playing with a cordless phone.

Canning says the baby was pressing all the buttons, so evidently he was the one who called 911.

Officers then began inspecting the home and discovered a 500-plant marijuana grow operation.

The infant's dad will appear in court in early April on charges of production of a controlled substance and mischief."

I didn't think they had rights to investigate the house unless there was reason to believe there was an emergency?

they can enter your home because someone from that residence phone 9-1-1. They think it's an emergency and needs to investigate. You can sue anyone for anything, but winning the law suit is a different story. So yes and no for your sueing question.

If the kid's dad was a dodgy character to begin with, it's not like the kid has much future to hope for.

Berzerker 01-21-2009 03:02 PM

If you call and hang up the police will come to the house to follow up the hangup. I don't know if that in turn means they are allowed to enter a residence and commence a search. If they are NOT allowed any evidence gathered would be inadmissible in court.

Berz out.

way2quik 01-21-2009 03:06 PM

This was in the Sun and surprisingly the kid actually punched in 9-1-1.
The kid was taught to do this so the ex-wife can have full custody of the child. lol.

MTE things like that aren't out of the normal anymore. He was dumb enough to let his 11 month old play with the phone.

Vansterdam 01-21-2009 04:25 PM

wow. talk about pwnage

poofster 01-21-2009 04:41 PM

i believe the cops are suppose to search the premises incase it was really an emergency and whoever opens the door i slike... a criminal of whatever sort or is threatened by one to tell the cops off.

jimmerz 01-21-2009 04:51 PM

is he gonna lsoe custody of hte kid now too?
since sniffing that weed stuff is a bad environment for the kid?

Amped 01-21-2009 05:06 PM

Will the ex wife get gunned down soon?
