9500i + ZR4 shifter will give you the best protection.

There is some debate whether or not the ZR4 is legal since it's a 'shifter' and not technically jamming the signal.

i've heard good things about v1 and propark combination also.. but never tried pro park.

V1 and Escort 8500 and 9500 work VERY well. I have the 8500 X50. I've used mine for 5+ years and it has saved my ass SOOOOO many times.

BUT just because you have one doesn't mean you should drive like an ass. If you drive like a fucking moron, radars can't save you. Cops dont always have their radars on and are trained to ballpark speed just on sight, and Radar Detectors are only meant to pickup RADAR signals. Speed traps use LASER, and if your radar detector some how picks it up, it usually means YOU'RE the one that's getting tagged with the laser. Just had to throw that out there, cuz I've sold many of these and morons drive like asshats afterwards and get tickets still.

So don't use one as an excuse to speed and drive like a moron, but as a tool to help prevent tickets from driving with the flow of traffic (and a little bit faster than flow of traffic sometimes ;)

9500ci which is a detector and shifter in one.
They are technically legal in BC, hence why we're allowed to sell them in BC. Jamming is taking a signal and scrambling it, which is messing with goverment tools/signals,etc.

Shifting is taking the laser signal and redirecting it. Same result, but different method. More of a legal loophole. Police won't know the difference, so if you did get caught they will assume it's a jammer anyways. So you would have to spend thousands in lawyer fees to dispute it, or just take it off.

UNLESS you yourself are a lawyer or just very familiar with the law, then it might be beneficial. :p

I've had cop customers buy the escorts for the relatives back east cuz they know it works quite well. Don't rely on it to prevent tickets, but use it as a prevention tool. Only real way to prevent tickets is driving speed limit.

HOLY 1600.......lol

jimmerz 01-26-2009 03:52 PM

by the time a v1 or another detector picking up laser, ur probably tagged already and it'll be too late to slam on the brakes

unless ur really really lucky and the shot of laser happened to somehow bounce to ur detector

ws6ta 01-26-2009 04:15 PM

v1 + laser pro park (2 head) is a much better solution then the 9500ci (in my opinion)

650ish for the v1 and about 800 for the lpp

the v1 will tell you which direction you are being hit from and the lpp will give you enough time to slow down. I hate how the escort detectors do not have arrows.

SkunkWorks 01-26-2009 05:43 PM

The Beltronics RX65 is pretty decent as well.

laser interceptor > LPP

actually your right. I was just being a bit bias because of what I have. Laser interceptor + v1 is the best package you can get. that being said a v1 + lpp is still better then a 9500ci or 8500 + zr4 shifters

slammer111 01-26-2009 06:34 PM

Got one, so do 2 buddies. V1 is the shiz.

$400 on the website.

Be sure to check the firmware version if buying used. Ask for the S/N, then punch it into the site. Personally I wouldn't go lower than V1.6 firmware. Mine is V1.7. V1.8 w/ POP is the latest.

crazie_gsr 01-27-2009 04:00 PM

i find it awsome in when i go down to the states. but in vancouver, not so much.

twitchyzero 01-27-2009 04:11 PM

^ i agree
they dont work that well up here..maybe b/c my dad bought it 15-20 years ago.

But still got the 2-way detection

Gtrr33 01-27-2009 04:18 PM

i have one on my nissan and yes it has save me too. money well spent

arfung1234 01-27-2009 04:31 PM

I'm a V1 and Laser Pro Park user. V1 is good but it is noisy due to the automatic doors. Radar detectors can save you from radar, but for laser you need a laser jammer or related product. Laser Pro Park is from UK and it is very good system. It does save quite a few times for me from Laser on Granville and surrey.

I use a 1 head system LPP plus wireless system plus V1. You can get them from www.kmph.ca

.Renn.Sport 01-27-2009 06:31 PM

its not too useful in van, most cops uses laser here...
but driving on the interstate, V1 has to be the best ones, at least u can tell there is a cop coming up from behind or in front, where escort fails in this matter.

its almost a must to have one in hk/china, in HK is more of an insurance thing to know where the speed cameras exactly are, but its no defense for the speed traps. in china it means all the highway suddenly becomes autobahn!

If you think about, does it matter what direction they're coming from? You're slowing down regardless.

jamming is illegal
shifting is more of a legal loophole.

Cops don't know the diff, so if you're busted with it, the end result will be the same UNLESS you take it to court and explain the technicalities and some solid proof.
