Cream and Sugar doesn't make a coffee good...it masks the taste of the coffee!

Not really. A grande coffee is like $0.50 > a large at TH. It's more but not exactly a ripoff. How many of you SB haters have actually looked @ their menu?

Waves - now there's a ripoff unless you use their free internet.

ajax 01-28-2009 07:52 PM

sooo that means there will be only one starbucks at every corner here?

agentcloud 01-28-2009 08:18 PM

starbucks isn't just about coffee... it's a lifestyle
lol

Mancini 01-28-2009 08:19 PM

I absolutely do not find Starbucks expensive relative to the competition.

Many of you must be comparing drip coffee to a not-quite-four-dollar latte. It's a different drink.

I drink latte's and buy the occasional food item. St. Arbucks are right on par, if not slightly cheaper than the competition, when comparing like products.

I picked up a latte at a coffee shop downtown today and it was slightly more expensive than Starbucks and the comparable food items were about 60% more. I even backed out of buying the food item when I had the employee price check it because it was much more than I'm accustomed to paying at the big S.

The only place I know of that is cheaper [to any significant degree] to get a latte is Costco but I can't get there very often. I would love to know of a cheaper option so I can save money on drinks I'm buying anyway.

IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE I CAN GET A 16oz LATTE FOR MUCH CHEAPER THAN $3.70 PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

bcedhk 01-28-2009 08:21 PM

gotta love mcdicks 1.39 coffee + muffin.

starbucks are just for posers who think they are the sh!t.

rsx604 01-28-2009 08:34 PM

Artigiano ain't exactly hot shit either. It's really gone downhill since the Picolo? bro's sold it. 49th Parallel is pretty good tho. Starbucks is ok as long as you specify EXACTLY what you want. At the end of the day, you have to treat those drinks as more than just a source of caffeine - drink the coffee for enjoyment, like a desert. (I'm not even going to mention the amount of calories in a frappacino!)

willystyle 01-28-2009 08:43 PM

^ Caffe Artigiano might not be as good as before, but it certainly is better than Starbucks from drip coffee to lattes.

As Dennis Leary would say:

Latte-sipping, beret-wearing, haiku-writing motherfuckers.

The longer the drink order the bigger the asshole. :D

tegz 01-28-2009 09:40 PM

I wouldn't be too upset if they start closing up shops around here. I work in an area where there's literally four Starbucks on one single intersection (200th and the Bypass in Langley). Two of 'em are even right next door to one another...

lol.. thats almost like the starbucks on robson.. the 2 that are directly across from each other.. XD

How about not getting them at all?

goo3 01-28-2009 10:21 PM

The biggest rip off is the new Tim Horton's Latte. Seriously, save a dollar and get their cappuccino instead! Unless you want espresso instead of really sweet coffee, then go somewhere else :)

Well...

1. I didn't complain about Starbucks' pricing (more than anything I was supportive of it). A recurring theme in this thread is that Starbucks' drinks are overpriced. I am not a brand loyalist and would gladly participate in a better deal.
2. I like coffee. Drip coffee periodically bothers my stomach. Latte's don't.
3. I've already cut my consumption in half for a variety of reasons.

So people - where are the latte deals?

I just heard about their new latte's and went there first for my coffee today. Latte's weren't on the menu, so I went elsewhere. You're saying they taste sweet?

twitchyzero 01-28-2009 10:37 PM

they dont really need starbucks in every safeway that's for sure.

maxxxboost 01-28-2009 10:40 PM

Well it's expected. I don't see how Starbucks didn't see this coming.
Poor economy = less people buying specialty coffees.

Starbucks is more of a lifestyle then anything else. For specialty drinks, there is little coffee that goes into it, just a lot of labour.

Best bang for the buck is to just get straight coffee.

OR make it at home. lOL.

Everyone opposing starbucks in this thread just got told.

Seriously people, quit complaining that its $4. Starbucks is a HUGE company, $65 mill of profit should be EXPECTED.
