I know right now, VPD is even trying to lure RCMP members to jump ship and within 30 days of applying you could be patrolling the streets of Vancouver.

I don't see why not, it's much easier hire existing cops than to hire and train a new police officer.

I'm not sure of the details but we do have embassies in those places and there are all sorts of international things happening these days.

Does RCMP offer ride-a-long to civilians like VPD?
This has been an on-off situation, depending on when & where. The problem is liability if an unarmed civillian gets into the middle of something. There used to be liability forms to be signed and unles spolicy has changed recently, you might suddenly find yoursalf standing on the side of the road if they have to go to a dangerous event. I suggest talking to your recruiter to see how things work in your area.

I did a ride along in Richmond. You have to be an applicant and also sign your life away. Also, like mentioned you may be left stranded road side if the officer feels that they are heading to concerning situation..(ie. person with a gun call). Basically the officer told me that I would have to find my own way to the detachment if it came to that.

Whats the salary when you reach 10, 15 and 20 years of service? On the website it just lists what the salary would be after 3 years of service.

Until you reach Senior Cst rate (used to be after 10 years, now 7), your pay does not go up. Senior Cst is 2% more and if you write & pass the Cpl exam (you don't have to actually take the hooks) you get 2 % more. Unless you become a NCO your pay does not increase above these levels.

I went to a seminar at SFU and I asked how much the rcmp presenter make a yaer. she told me she makes around 80k a year and she's been on the force for 4 years. she said she has superiors who have been serving for 8+ years and they make 125k+ a year.

Either her superiors are NCO's or Constables who work LOTS of overtime, or they are Officers. I used to figure that when I worked overtime and actually got double time, I was loosing 50% in taxes & other deductions. Working a Stat holiday on a 10 hour shift...we get paid time and a half for the first 8 hours (not double time like the unionized office clerks) and the last 2 hours you get paid 1 half hour of regular pay...for each of these 2 hours. Instead of getting 20 hours double time, you get 8 hours at 1 1/2 (12 hrs) and 2 hours at 1/2 time (1 hr) for a total of 13 hours pay, instead of 20 hrs. The RCMP Act allows that. The only way you get double time is if you have to work on a regular day off. I know Csts who make in the $130,00 area but they are usually paying for a divorce that resulted from working just about every single day off.

Will those RCMP fast-track recruiting programs appear more from time-to-time?

I'm considering obtaining my BST2 (already have my BST1) and Standard First Aid to polish my application for RCMP, would it make a difference?

Your gonna have to get Standard First Aid and CPR level "C" anyways, so i don't think that would make a difference.
I don't know about BST 1&2.

First aid you must have when applying.
BST 1&2 is not a requirement so all it really does is fill up your resume.

bah... my application got concluded last week because I'm related to someone through my sister's marriage who has criminal associations. Even though I do not associate myself with my sister's husband nor his family, they concluded my file. They basically told me to distance myself from from "those people", basically my sister, because she chose to marry the wrong person. From the get go, I chose to cut off my old friends who used drugs, but now I have to cut off my own sister. Go figure. When they say "you can't choose your family".. well.. I guess you can.

so after almost a year of passing everything else, the security clearance, which is the last stage before depot has stop my application. They told me I can apply to re-activate my file after a year of proving that I distanced myself... but in the end no matter what I do, even though I am making the difficult choice of cutting off my sister for good (she understands), I think they will still not hire me because in the end I will still be related to her.

I spoke to a VPD recruiter this past weekend about my situation and he said "the RCMP does funny things like that" and to get my application in ASAP with them.

Sorry for the long post. In the end I have nothing to hide as I made all the right choices and surround myself with positive people. They even said that I didnt do anything wrong, just that I'm "too close". okay, whatever that means.

The way I look at it, it is just a bump in the road called life. I might re-apply in a year, but as of now I am going to apply with the VPD and other places. Seriously thinking of EPS and CPS.

^ Wow, sorry to hear that. What's EPS? CPS?

Question, I know they ask a question about copyright infringement (downloading illegal software/music) for the VPD polygraph. Is this a serious concern for the RCMP?

RCMP asks the same question in their pre-polygraph questionaire

Or mabe im just a criminal..
