what's the difference between the DIY fender rolling with the bat and going out to a shop and paying them to do it?

Any significant differences or just peace of mind that it's done properly?

If you're good enough with a bat there wont be a difference.

If you're slamming and stretching on that size wheel you'll only need a roll, the natural camber from lowering it will suck the wheels in.

There is your answer. Heat gun + Eastwood Fender Roller = perfection.

You are welcome.

did you crease the driver side?

Funny that you show 2 pics of the gas door, the easiest to do. I wonder what your other side looks like. With a bat it is much harder to control and prevent creasing on the 240sx. There is not enough support.

Get a fender roller. period. Do it right if you want it to look good.

Here, if there is so much doubt:

Why does everything have to be so confrontational.

Fender rollers are great, with enough effort and care however a bat can be used efficiently as well. My soarer right now is getting about 2-3 inches of pull done on it with a roller, so relax yourself.

I am not being confrontational. Its just weird that you would only show one side. I am just saying instead of take the cheap way, do it properly. You take so much pride on how your car looks, but you choose to use a bat to roll your fenders. There is no real way to fully control this. I have been working on S13s and S14s for years, I have seen so many poorly done rolls, and other stuff it just makes me sick. Your car has the 180sx lights that cost a couple hundred and some decent looking rims. Coilovers too. Why cheap out on rolling?

Anyways good job on using the fender roller. I have never heard anyone telling me that they can use care and precision with a bat. Makes me laugh. You must love butchering cars if you are saying that.

Lol I have been building S13's for well over 5 years and I like to believe I know the car inside out. There's a time and a place for all applications of a tool or technique. Yes I have the kouki tails which cost well over a couple hundred and "decent" rims (are you just ignorant or do you not know what they are?).

They were batted because the car was going into paint anyways so chipped paint wasnt my concern. Time and a place.

My new soarer is getting a fender roller because of the massive pull that I have to do and the fact that it has a pearlescent paint that will be a cunt to color match. It's not a matter of cheaping out, its a matter of using what was quickly accessible and what wasn't absolutely necessary.

On topic, if you're a noob don't even use the fender roller yourself you'll still fuck shit up. Go to a dub shop or a decent body shop and get them to do it.

Look man I am just trying to lay down a point, if you are gonna spend the dough to get some sweet rims, coils, and slam the car enough to even have to roll or pull. Why in would you cheap out and use a bat. That is not a precision instrument to have a nice looking roll or pull. I wasn't trying to talk sh*t about your ride. I was simply making a point. Its easy enough to do if you use the right tools. That way its economical and looks proper. If you are going to do something, do it right,,,the first time.

I agree with that, however as I mentioned before, it depends on the application. When I did my roll I A) was gonna get the car painted anyways so I didn't care for a roller, B) didn't have one accesible on that day and time, and C) wasn't doing something extremely drastic.

I just gave the guy the options and the difference, it's up to him what he finds appropriate. With my soarer I'm not in a time constraint, therefore I will use a roller when it becomes accessible.

heat gun, and take ur time...

i used a fender roller for the first time and i still creased my front passenger fender. the front driver fender (my 2nd attempt) turned out much much better.

my rears, i had G do it at keeplabs... i didnt plan on doing my fronts but after 1 night of driving, i pulled my fender liner out so decided to roll them myself anyways...

Toyotas (aristo) and some Lexus' are super flat!! They are a pain to do. 240sx normally crease due to lack of support in the rear fenders. I am assuming you own the Lexus in your signature.

If you use a fender roller machine to roll, as long as you take it slow it will work well. You have to think that you are heating up the metal, and disfiguring it. Take is slow and make sure the area is heated up. Body work is an art form.

alright .. i finally got my tires mounted and got them test fitted.......they are sticking out 2 iches.=( looks hella slick but not to cops. I would have to do a pull and chamber...im thinking of getting the 20mm front fender and 50mm rear for the hell of it and give it a differnt look. what do you guys think

2" is bit of an exaggeration I'd say.. unless you're running 16x8 +0 all around. I've got a pair of 16x8 +18's in my rear and it still tucks in a bit too much for my liking

Personally I would've ran a skinnier tire for fitment issues. Widebody is a bit overkill I'd say for what you're needing. Just roll it properly.

hmmm well if you do it with a bat you have no one but to blame but yourself if/when the paint cracks. If you get someone to do it... you can blame someone else. LOL

Thats a minor pull for the rear and just a camber and roll for the front. Child's play.
