we used to wind our own motor or get help from someone older to wind the motor with different gauge of wire .. and custom magnet because we can't afford to buy brand name packaged motor. those motor you buy in package is expensive , of course we were like in elementary school at that time no money to buy motor upgrade.

I still have this little guy kicking around in a box somewhere.
Looks like someone out there has the same one. Mine has different wheels though.

These were the shit back in the day.
I remember adding ball bearings for my car. Those things cost quite a fortune for a kid back in the early 90s. I remember using all the $$ I get from my parents when I would be on the honor roll in elementary school (back in the Philippines) just to buy mods for the cars. All my friends in the neighborhood had one so race days would always be Fridays nights.
I still remember some of the add ons you can do - ball bearings, sponge tires, mag wheels with 4 bearings in them, a lighter base plastic for the car + so much more.... shiiit..... |

So who's up for RS Tamiya Challenge during the summer meet? Bring a track and we'll battle it out for a prize, haha.

Thinking back, maybe that's the reason I am interested in modifying cars.
