I kind-of like the way the Wind looks better, but the EEE has a better touchpad I think.
EDIT: My sister wants the Sakura Red 1000HA, lol. That's an extra $50 on top for some paint and cherry blossom decals. -_-;; |
Wow I can see that the price for the 1000HA has gone down quite a bit, when i bought mine 2 monthes ago retail was way more...

there's also the ASUS eee 1002HA http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...nufacture=ASUS
this model looks way better than the 1000h. it doesn't have the crappy glossy exterior which i hate about my 1000h.

what's the purpose of the netbook? just for school + notes or what?
if it's just for school and notes, just grab a cheaper 6 cell netbook.
acer aspire one a100-1698 got good reviews, and it's $400
only catch is that it's linux, there are ways to install xp via usb though

i can vouch for the Eee1000 series
i have the SSD version and i max out at 7-7.5 hours on the 6 cell
10"...i can watch 720p smoothly. and for those that wanna watch 1080p on a netbook..wth?? hahha
super quiet
comfy keyboard too
the con is lame right shift key (i adjusted that)
it's data SSD has slower write speed than a HDD
a bit heavy (1.3kg)
could be a bit thinner.
1000HE looks like they just like the rest of the 1000 except that they upgraded the Super Hybrid Engine along with the newer single-core Atom so that the battery life can max out at 9.5 hours.
are you looking to get one soon? cause i would personally wait another year for the dual-core Atom and a faster/bigger SSD

My mom insists on a 10" because she doesn't want my sister to "squint at a tiny screen" and since she's paying she calls the shots. :P
The EEE 1000HA is only $429, might as well.
Looking to get one within the next one or two weeks. My sister can't tell the difference between HDD, SSD and single/dual-core, so it doesn't matter. For me I'll stick with my bigger laptops. The Mini 10 looks interesting, but a bit gimmicky with all the features. If it came with a 9600GT-M GPU I'd be interested. |

Well.. Yeah you need a harder to find ZIF PATA SSD drive is what I meant hehe.
How is the Costco one lousier? Isn't it the 10.2" 60gb 1gb model like everyone else? Quote:

I got the RunCore 1.8" ZIF PATA SSD. Competitively priced, but unfortunately the first batch was all screwed up and I'm still waiting for my replacement bwahahah
Costco has the 1010NR if I remember right, and it has everything but Bluetooth. Same 60GB HDD, WiFi, etc. Just no BT. EDIT: It might have less RAM too...but I doubt it. The 1035NR came with 1GB.

Ahh.. you're right about the BT. Yeah I was looking at the Runcores but at $400USD for a 128gb that's almost the price of the netbook. So your HP essentially cost over $800.

Yup. Asus 1000HE was what I recommended. I'm tempted to sell my Lenovo S10 for this.

sorry a little new to netbooks ... what does the 1000HE have that makes it so much better (other than what I can tell here is that it's newly released)
Any other feedback on the Lenovo S10? I like Lenovo's because that's what the office provides for a work laptop; plus it's extra convenience if my work laptop power adapter is compatible with a Lenovo S10. But I can imagine the Lenovo's aren't very customizable? (and otherwise bland in looks?)

I'm not sure what you mean by customizable.. I have 2gb ram and 64GB ssd installed in it right now.. It's running dual boot OS X and Windows 7.

i had the asus and it was alright, since i was travelling all the time and it worked best on the plane and at airports. But since i've stopped traveling, its not as good as i used to be for what i use it for, since portability and size aren't as big of an issue anymore. I've since switched to a Dell XPS 1210 with maxed 4 gig ram and a 320 gig 7200rpm drive.

I think I read in the NCIX forum that Samsung has pretty much decided not to release the NC10 in Canada. I was waiting for it for the longest time too...
Anyways I just picked up the 1000HE. The keyboard is awesome but the touchpad kinda feels weird and the buttons are fucking stiff. Good thing it has multi-touch and I can do the two-finger right click similar to the Macbooks.

I picked mine up from Hong Kong and they have international warranty except it's gonna be a pain if I want to get it fixed. I'm just pretty much hoping it runs fine for a long time. Really good netbook though.
