Why not take racing to a track? I think all people who drink and drive should have a giant sticker on the back of their car labeled R for retarded. They would only be allowed to drive on twisty windy roads where the general public will not be allowed access to and emergency personels will not respond because of the R sign on the back. These people will most likely get into car accidents and die a very slow painful death trapped in their cars. Hopefully some of these people will have been impaled, drenched in scalding hot coolant, have multiple open fractures, and are bleeding to death. Bears will be encouraged to eat these assholes alive while they are trapped in the car, think of it as snack in a tin can for these hungry animals. The remains of these fuckers will then be salvaged and used to kitty litter by grinding their bones up into dust. Even in death there will be no respect for these people.

Drunk driving is dangerous. Drunk drivers often won't admit they'r drunk and expect themselves to perform as well as when they'r sober, which is physically impossible. Street racers know they'r street racing.

Ignorance can be deadly

there is nothing wrong with having a little fun racing

In 2006, in the USA, 16,885 traffic fatalities were attributed to alcohol. Compare that to 399 fatalities attributed to street racing over a three year period between 1998 and 2001.

i'd say both are equally stupid and dangerous in different way.
but drink n drive is way easier for one person to commit and duration lasts longer.
street racing is harder to commit require two person with the same commitment at the same time and space..and typically duration is shorter than drink n drive.
thats why i think more traffic fatalities comes from drink n drive.

Drunk is worse because you can take precautions while street racing, it's for a very very short time period, and your judgment isn't affected. Statistically it's obvious which is more dangerous, as a far greater number of people drink and drive, and cause accidents while doing so.

If the person is an absolute idiot they're almost guaranteed to crash while drunk, while only very likely to crash while street racing imho.

PS: This should be a poll.

you can say the idiot remark to both sides. an idiot going 150km/h is just as likely to die as a drunk guy going 80. the only differeance is the drunk guy is probably just trying to get home and not trying to go fast or break any laws, while the racer is trying to go as fast as he can.

should be by percentage and not be raw numbers, since they are no where near equal.

I think both are bad do to the fact that most kids out there do not know how to drive and they think, they can race ---NOT---..

As for drinking and driving you do not have control of your actions you think you do but you clearly don't.

As for street racing it just a dangerous as someone on here said that you do have all your senescence working over time but if you don't know how to handle the car then is just the same as drinking and driving..

Drunk driving... a lot more people are killed due to drunk driving than street racing. Don't let the media fool you into believing street racing is some kinda plague that kills hundreds of people. Truth is, more people are killed by speeding police cars than street racers. That said, both are stupid.

but if people street raced as much as they drove drunk, do you think the numbers would be the same. not everyone can afford a car worth racing. but most people can afford beer. even in vancouver.

Street racing is worse..

ppl are trying to make the point that your reaction time is slower when you are drunk.. well if you are street racing and going twice the speed limit or more your reaction time is half that of the person that is driving the speed limit.
What about losing control while going over a bump or a pothole?

Drunk drivers on the other hand are more likely to go UNDER the speed limit (most cops look for that.. if someone is going under the speed limit at 2 am they are most likely being overly cautious).. When people are drunk they also usually are actually paying attention to the road more since they dont want to do ANYTHING that could attract attention to themselves..

I'm not saying drinking and driving isnt bad. It just isnt worse then street racing. Now the idiots that go high speeds while drunk are a different story though.

I applied the idiot remark evenly to both sites.

i think the question needs to be rephrased:
which is a bigger problem? street racing? or drunk driving?
in which case drunk driving clearly dwarfs the death toll over street racing

They're both dangerous but I think racing would be a bigger hazard. After you crash, you'll still feel like shit anyways

I think he means setting up a "proper" illegal drag. People on look out, low-use road, etc. Compared to just mashing the gas going down Marine Drive, yeah, it's a lot safer.

edit: relatively safer

Take a 30 foot plank and place it between two buildings 30 feet in the air.

Would you rather walk across drunk or run across sober?
