Tougher sentances only work if you CATCH the criminals in the first place.

Chuck Norris made a good point, I also think tougher sentances will only exacerbate the problem. If you increase the risk, you increase the profit. Just like the stock market.

RRxtar 02-17-2009 11:18 PM

so you make it life in prison for heroin/crack/meth dealers. that drives up the cost of these drugs to an unaffordable level. now you dont have people starting to take these drugs because they cant afford it. which down the road, means less people with serious drug problems which means less people in the DTES.

StaxBundlez that's what I'm talking about! ^

_______

With all this gang stuff going on I've been thinking for buying a gun. Possibly a pump shot gun or M14 with a silencer, oh i forgot or AK47... just stick those things down you're pants and if you ever got any problems you are set.

jeffh 02-17-2009 11:31 PM

werent we all happier before the rcmp started cracking down on the HA? they ran the show, and that was it. now theyve been busted up enough that they arent the clearly dominant group and all these silly smaller gangs are trying to capitalize.

yoall 02-17-2009 11:33 PM

But kids on the street are still modifying cars and speeding.
Shoudnt they finish catching all of them first before moving on to other cases?

Today, I saw a car that was so low to the ground. I think he should have gotten a VI.

Go figure..... Dont see them catching them shooters.

Gotta catch people to charge them, and there will always be someone else to take that persons place when there's money to be made.

Raising the price of ammunition is a good joke but ridiculous. This would only prevent law abiding citizens from protecting themselves and help assure criminals that they've got the advantage over their victims. I don't know a lot about gangbangin', but from what I understand the vast majority of gun related crimes are not by legal or registered firearms. It can't be that hard to smuggle ammunition to go with said firearms if they don't already do that.

If decriminalized and regulated, narcotics and prostitution would not be economical to sell illegally. They would never be able to compete with the price, quality, and appeal of safe, legal, purchases from real commercial entities. Like alcohol, it would also be more difficult for minors to access these things as they wouldn't be abundantly available by their neighborhood drug dealers.

Then we could deal with problems like theft, violent crime, poverty and mental illness directly.

I doubt I'll ever see anything like the above in my lifetime but that's my thoughts.

Government can't afford to pay for all these guys to be in prison for life..

Are you kidding me?

People with DRUG problems don't just stop using them because they are more expensive. Instead they'll just STEAL MORE to pay for the more expensive drugs.

We did do that.

Years ago, 4 officers frustrated with the revolving door justice system and their futile occupational efforts abducted a known drug dealer and beat him up in Stanley Park.

You guys condemned their actions because this overstep in authority infringed the rights of the drug dealer.

hotjoint 02-18-2009 10:25 AM

nothing is going to be done and the shootings will continue to happen until one side decides that its content </thread>

lol, why can't ppl with drug problems rob the dealers instead. They can rise up against the dealers, take them all out and keep the prize.

Supply / demand..

2 years ago cocaine came into BC really easy because of a couple key figures. Those guys got busted. Now everyone is scratching their heads looking for ppl who have kgs. Little supply means obviously the price goes up. It costs double now. The ppl at the top are making half as much as they used to. Not to mention the increase in competition has fueled lower prices on the street, making it even worse for them. All these variables means that the only alternative to getting more money (the money they used to make) means eliminating a lot of your competition.. especially the smaller guys who jumped in when everything was cheap. In the real business world a corp might merge or buyout a competing business. But in this world, it means killing them.

This solution is ultimately one of their last resorts. I am pretty sure that nobody really wants to kill others but when you start losing a lot of money you aren't given much choice. IMO, the only way these shootings will stop is if we get more cocaine into our country so we can drive the price back down to what it was 2 years ago. Because 2 years ago ppl were happy. Competition existed but everyone made a lot of money so nobody was really getting squeezed. With the recent halt in imports and increase in smaller phones coming up, this was only bound to happen.

My solution prob sounds dumb to everyone but it's just what I think. I think that the more importers get busted, the more stress it brings to everyone else and it will increase violence. You have to understand that there will always be a market for this. And there is ALWAYS going to be NEW ppl emerging. New importers, new drivers, new middle guys. It's just a cycle.

The truth is, the police will never be able to stop the supply of drugs into this country. There are just too many other ppl out there wanting to bring it in. Their efforts as of late have been incredible for the communities. It has raised prices which in turn has increased violence by a tonne in your neighborhoods. They think that oh taking 10 kg's off the street will somehow impact us? It only does in a negative way.

Everything I said in this post is just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

Stop them? are you insane?

The more Ed Hardy shirts that are soaked in blood, the better.

I am hoping that blood will run in rivers, and if Canada's cops become as corrupt as Mexico, we'll see it happen...
