| Lost Keys + Someone Attempted to BREAK IN!
Ok posting for a friend.
He lost his keys at school (Langara) and was waiting for someone to bring a spare key. While waiting he saw the car unlock, he kept watching from far away and someone went up to the car and he chased after him.
WELL wat should he do, since this is at school and the fucking theif could easily break in the car now.

bring the car back to the dealership and have them reprogram the alarm and give you a new set of locks

Well your friend is kind of stupid. Why didn't he wait until the guy was near his car and then get him instead of scaring him away? If he is going to chase him, at least be confident enough to be able to catch up to him.

Tell him to choose.
Even he manages to get the originals back/ get the guy who has the originals, there could be a spare copy made for it already.

well first off, your friend should have never chased him. he should of casually walked towards the car, then attack.

Get an aftermarket alarm with a starter kill. He could put in some sort of hidden kill switch so it won't start unless it's switched on. My dad put one in my car when I was in highschool probably cost about $10 in parts.

I would either pay the 2000 bucks to have peace of mind that someone doesn't have access to your car whenever he wants.
Or
Wait for him to come back, but kinda hard, considering another golden oppurtunity to find the guy trying to get in your car with you watching from a distance is unlikely, considering you'll have to set up a camp around your car while you're at school.
Either way, sucks that your friend didn't get him the one and only easy chance he had.

I just had another idea. GPS tracker, I don't think there to expensive my dad has one in his truck and trailer. That way when he steals it you can track him down.

does your friend have any roadstar coverage? http://www.icbc.com/insurance/insura...g_lockrePU.asp Quote:
If you have the RoadStar Package, we will pay you up to $500 for the cost of replacing your keys or for re-keying the locks on your vehicle, if your keys or remote keyless entry transmitter are stolen.
You must carry insurance to cover theft, either Autoplan Comprehensive or Specified Perils. Your claim will be subject to its usual deductible [click for definition]. For the same coverage without having to pay the deductible, you can purchase RoadsidePlus. | i know $500 max is not $2000, but it helps a bit?
