well 100-150 isnt' a lot in term of headphones
i think a better question to ask is what are the best sets that do not need to be driven by an amp. i was reading that maybe the hd550s? the 600 would def. need an amp
ps. go ear the dr. dre's for urself. the amount of distortion on those things is ridiculous

Try some music stores like tom lee, long and long and mcquade.

could u guys suggest something that wont break?
my dad goes through about 2 headsets a month i think his yearly budget on headphones is in the 1000s |

Headsets... the Sennheiser PC151/160 I recommended above. That's pretty sturdy too, but not as good as the studio headphones.

in my experience with headphones... sony ones break the most often.

I'm recommending their professional line (MDR-7506/7509) which are far sturdier - my school studio uses them, and they're probably the most wide-spread studio headphones in the world due to price/sound/sturdiness combination.
EDIT: The 7506 should be around $100 at Tom Lee or Long & McQuade.
