One man in custody
Connie Thiessen RICHMOND (NEWS1130) | Friday, March 6th, 2009 10:54 am

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) - Richmond RCMP have evacuated several units in a Bennett Road townhouse following the discovery of a synthetic drug lab.

Bennett Road is closed between Garden City and St. Albans Road while police dismantle the operation.

Corporal Nycki Basra says the road will be closed for most of the day.

"At this point, we can't say the size or the extent of this drug lab. However, one male has been arrested and is in custody."

Richmond Mounties are also dealing with a grow-op fire in a home near Blundell and No. 5 Road.

The blaze broke out around 7 a.m., but few details are available.

Dramatic escape from kidnappers in Richmond
Victim seen running down highway covered in blood and duct tape
Jim Goddard RICHMOND (NEWS1130) | Friday, March 6th, 2009 2:40 pm

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) - A dramatic escape from the hands of kidnappers.

Richmond RCMP Corporal Nycki Basra says a bloody and duct taped man who had been kidnapped from Burnaby was seen running on Westminster Highway Thursday morning.

Police were quickly called and realized the man had freed himself after being abducted.

"We are still looking as to why this happened, and what the motive behind the abduction was and we're also looking for other suspects as well. We don't know the relationship between the suspect and victim, however it was a targeted abduction."

Basra says they don't want to release any information that might identify the victim, such as his age.

One suspect has been charged with unlawful confinement.

Twenty-six-year old Mark Anthony Bie of Vancouver, who is known to police, has already appeared in Richmond Provincial Court.

I live in Abbotsford and the cops have checkpoints set up all over town. there are several cameras set up for/because of gang violence. I am not worried> just get a gun, behave, and cooperate with and respect the police.

How is illegal gambling unsafe? LB fights at pc cafes make richmond unsafe? :haha::haha::haha::haha::haha:

Culture_Vulture 03-07-2009 03:25 AM

since when did you ever consider Richmond safe?
the hell

orange7 03-07-2009 03:34 AM

richmond, vancouver, burnaby, etc.. are all safe as long as you don't cause beef..
I mean.. why would you even want to start beef in the first place?

just live your life happily and don't do stupid things like point your middle finger at strangers in surrey...

then again.. this is just my opinion.. i've never been robbed or assaulted so my reasoning may not have any value..

i've lived in vancouver for all my life, and i've always felt safe.. except for walking down east hasting at night time...

GLOW 03-07-2009 03:35 AM

the only thing i've been scared of in richmond is driving on #3 road and parking in aberdeen/parker place

orange7 03-07-2009 03:48 AM

k.. this is for real..

i'm actually scared of getting a speeding ticket for driving 65km/h at #3 road than being targeted by gangs..

cause i don't piss ppl off or have any connection with gangs so i'm good!

cool moe D 03-07-2009 03:51 AM

I've lived in Vancouver all my life as well and for the most part, I feel safe, hell, I've even taken walks down E Hastings alone at night. The only times I've never felt safe is at the clubs, I've seen so many incidents go down, innocent people getting hurt all because stupid people think they got something to prove.
