Occupational Lvl 1 first aid?

anyone have theirs/taken it?

any idea on places that offer it and how long/how much does it cost?

Vansterdam 03-08-2009 02:20 PM

i got mine but probably should renew it by now, lol

MarkyMark 03-08-2009 02:25 PM

I don't know about level 1 but the people at my work do level 3 and its like a 2 week course if you do it fulltime, and it's good for 2 years. I think you can do it at places like st johns ambulance and others.

murd0c 03-08-2009 02:28 PM

basic level 1 is a 1day course that costs $100 or so. I got my OFA level 2 from Valley first aid in Langley. I have been to st johns before and I didn't like the clases.

Vansterdam 03-08-2009 02:36 PM

level 3 is paramedic is it not?

johny 03-08-2009 03:01 PM

level one is one day. easy, and pretty borring. how to put a bandaid on... or call 911 if they need anything more then that. I found it lame. but it was paid by work, and got the day off work, so can't complain.

level 1 is simple, costs about $100 like said above . about 8 hr course.. which really is only like a few hours worth of shit u need to know

SumAznGuy 03-08-2009 03:26 PM

In Vancouver, I took the course offered by Trama Tec in Yaletown and renewed it a few times are Care on Commercial drive and 14th ave.

I've had my level 2 for almost 8 years now.

Level one is 8 hours and goes over vary basic first aid. If the work place has 50 employees or less, then level 1 is fine. Anymore than that, and you need level 2, is 5 days worth of classes and practical.
Level 3 is for people who work in the wilderness or is a paramedic. Level three you learn everything in level 2 and how to use a spine board and neck brace.

Hondaracer 03-08-2009 03:37 PM

nice, i thought it might be more expensive

No, but you need level 3 to be eligible to take the paramedic courses.

Psykopathik 03-09-2009 06:38 AM

the L1 course is worth it for anyone IMO, it could help save your own family members life or even your own.

Yes and no. Knowing CPR and basic first aid can save a life, but after a few years of not using/practicing it, a person tends to forget what they learned.
I'm the last guy they call for emergency's at work, and when it comes time to renewing my Level 2, I've forgotten quite a lot of it. And of course, every few years, they change some of the procedures. It is quite useful to renew the certificate every 2 years.

Tegra_Devil 03-09-2009 05:23 PM

st. johns is good...

i got my level 3 w/ cpr 'c' and aed protocol...

jimzilla 03-09-2009 06:26 PM

Hondaracer 04-25-2009 03:36 PM
