you order the king crab as a whole.

its some package deal. basically the king crab price / lb + special price for cooked 3 ways.

Yup, they have this deal at Bing Sheng on Renfrew too. Some of the cast from out of town from the film I'm working on have been craving Chinese style king crab, so Monday we hit Sun Shi Wah and last night we hit Bing Sheng.

Surprisingly, despite their lack of hard alcohol, everyone actually enjoyed Bing Sheng more. For the 7 of us we ordered 3 king crabs, two 10 pounders and a 13 pounder, 1st course was steamed with garlic and served with butter, 2nd course was fried in spice/peppers/jalapeno and 3rd course was rice in a coconut curry sauce served in the shells of the king crabs.

I think those 3 courses are the staple of king crab...not much else you can do with king crab other than the deepfrying and cream sauce.:)

my wife and I can finish a 8 pounder EASY.

the shell weights a ton by itself, so all in all 33 pounds of crab probably gives at most 20 pounds of meat, /7 that's only 3 per head

Mugen EvOlutioN 03-25-2009 08:15 AM

ya i understand but u are not only eating the crab meat itself when u are at the restaurant. they mix in shit load of fried rice and noodle with it which stuffs the shit out of u

I had King Crab a couple of weeks ago at Pelican Restaurant on Hastings. It's $12.80/lb there. We had it three ways: garlic and onion, deep fried salt and pepper and curried rice. So yummy! I normally don't eat crab but king crab meat is so good. I noticed Kirin's King Crab goes for $13.80/lb. Surely, that's a rip-off. Yes, T&T sells it for about $10/lb.
