Shaving Cream

so what do you guys use?

I've been trying to find a good one, moved from, barbasol->gillet-> Nievea ... and they seem mediocre.

all $0.02 welcome!

MegaMx 03-15-2009 09:51 AM

shaving cream got too expensive for me to so i recently switched to whipped cream

Alphamale 03-15-2009 10:00 AM

Man-made cream.

It's a little known fact, but the creamy consistency of poop makes for a very good lubricant for shaving.

I gotta say I like Edge Active Care the most; trying to get through my Nivea so I can go back to it.

Gh0stRider 03-15-2009 11:02 AM

Used edge and gillet.

InvisibleSoul 03-15-2009 11:06 AM

Tried shaving gel?

03aspec 03-15-2009 11:07 AM

It's better than the electric razor, which leaves so much stubble and feels like crap. Shaving is relaxing, especially when you do a proper wet shave with hot water and good shaving soap.

OP, try Kiss My Face shaving creams, or Crabtree & Evelyn if you want to go more upscale... best used with a brush (you can get it at C&E or other places too) and soaked in hot water. It's really awesome during winter - hot shaving. During summer go for "cooling" soaps and creams with mint and stuff in it.

I have a DE razor, but most days I stick with my Mach 3 for convenience and quickness.

no doubt. i spent like 200$ on an electric a few years back. that self-cleaning job. it was actually a really close shave for an electric, but the razor is still closer and much more relaxing.
kiss my face makes pretty good skin products for cheap. my gf uses it all the time. i personally like the barbasol w/aloe. smells fresh but not overpowering

i keep it plain and simple, full beard that i trim every week or so..

I use the Edge cleaning gel stuff, whatever it's called. It's nice, smells good, and apparently helps clean your face. At any rate, I've tried others, and keep coming back to this one. I've got an electric one too for weekday mornings when I'm in a hurry. The long hair trimmer on it is great for sideburn trimming and stuff. The only downside is that it's not as close a shave as the blade. (Schick Diamond FX is my fave). After shaving with either one, I use EGO Trip moisturizer from Shoppers. It's nice stuff, doesn't leave you greasy at all, not too strong smelling either.

Barbasol is classic. :D Never tried it, though, but I've certainly heard of it. My current choice is Arko Citrus, from Turkey (and $5, shipped). I have some Taylor's of Bond Street stuff when I feel like extra luxury. :haha:

Not necessarily. Just find whichever scent you like best.

Congrats! Now you're shaving like a real man.

Using shaving soap is much better cause its not full of chemicals likes all the other shit that comes in canisters

ZhangFei 03-15-2009 06:57 PM

Use Cetaphil to shave. And while that Cetaphil is on your face, wash it off with water and you just washed off your face. hahahahaha

thats old school!

Jason00S2000 03-15-2009 07:48 PM

I use the cheap shit, and I'm learning to use a straight razor.

bcrdukes 03-15-2009 08:21 PM

I use Taylor of Old Bond Street. I'm thinking of switching over to Truefitt & Hill after I run out of this one. The Col. Conk stuff is not bad either. Pair if up with the Merkur single blade Ch28 suggested and then you'll be in it for the win.

Do a search in the health forums. There are some extensive threads in regards to razors and shaving cream with lots of helpful hints and tips.
