Massa: "I need a WHITE VISOR! Please come on, a WHITE visor otherwise I can't see anything!!"
Team: "Felipe baby stay cool, we're bringing you a white visor!"

:lol

Those seats must have been really stuffy. IMHO, cheapseats are the way to go.

Looks like the diffusers used by Brawn, Toyota and Williams are legal! Looks like I'll still be watching F1!

Brawn will probably have to figure out a way to implement KERS if they want to stay competitive the whole season.

But some of the drivers don't like using the KERS cause it's too heavy and slows them down in corners. And they can't use it to ballast the weight.

Look at BMW... Kubica isn't using it, but Heidfeld is. But they get similar times.

I guess it also depends on the circuit they're racing on and how big they are.

Rich Sandor 04-15-2009 07:40 AM

Does anyone know if there is a minimum weight and maximum power output (power or power/time) for the KERS system? I think there is a lot of potential to improve the KERS, either the weight or the power output, to get a better advantage over the non-KERS cars - except if F1 makes the mistake to freeze the weight/power capacity of the KERS unit within a set of parameters, then the teams have no incentive to develop it further once it's maxed out within the rules.

5.2.3 The maximum power, in or out, of any KERS must not exceed 60kW.
Energy released from the KERS may not exceed 400kJ in any one lap.
Measurements will be taken at the connection to the rear wheel drivetrain.
KERS = 15kg for a 6.6s boost of 80hp.

I thought the weight of the system was 30kg...

Yeah my bad, 25-35kg.

What I read was that it was 15kg... off from the fuel tank to run KERS lol

Win, FIA rules in favour of Brawn, Williams and Toyota in Diffuser dispute.

impactX 04-15-2009 07:49 PM

which is BS in a way as Redbull asked for clarification last year as they had the same idea and FIA told them that it's illegal.

HonestTea 04-15-2009 09:50 PM

SHANGHAI HERE WE COME!

HonestTea 04-17-2009 05:21 PM

F1 Fantasy, change your drivers for this week :)

Raid3n 04-17-2009 06:37 PM

pretty sure the lockout was a day or two ago =x or at the very least, it closed at the beginning of practice...

skyxx 04-17-2009 06:41 PM

This season will be interesting, especially near the European dates cause then most teams would have the new Diffusers ready. :)

HonestTea 04-17-2009 06:46 PM

Raid3n: I don't think so haha My friend just changed his line-up and I'm waiting for Practice #3 to end first lol

It usually closes 1 hr or 30minutes before Qualifying ^^ unless they changed it for Shanghai :(

HonestTea 04-17-2009 11:17 PM

CRAZY!

VETTEL FTW!

skyxx 04-17-2009 11:21 PM

^ Unexpected..lol RBR in the lead. BTW, Renault had their new diffuser on their cars right?

HonestTea 04-18-2009 12:01 AM

I think it was a "Interim" Diffuser on the Renault's

chun 04-18-2009 04:10 AM

Very unexpected, Vettel takes pole :p

SkinnyPupp 04-18-2009 09:03 AM

Awesome to see Red Bull and Alonso do well. However they are all running really light, so it will probably be 1-2 again for The Cheaters.

It would be a spectacular "FUCK YOU" from Renault and RB though, wouldn't it?

01. Vettel 644.0kg
02. Alonso 637.0kg
03. Webber 646.5kg
04. Barrichello 661.0kg
05. Button 659.0kg
06. Trulli 664.5kg
07. Rosberg 650.5kg
08. Raikkonen 673.5kg
