He told you that there was a brake problem; nobody knows when a "problem" will become a failure. If you knew it was the master cylinder, why not get it towed to a shop, or say "I'll buy it once the brakes are fixed"?

Like you said, as-is is sold as-is. Sucks to be you when the brakes fail, but I've been there before; brakes broke and then there you are doing your damnedest to stop that thing. For me, it was an '88 olds; believe me it's much easier to stop a teg than an Olds.

but as much of an 'idiot' he is for selling you something in subpar condition...you're just as much of one by posting an online threat - "watch out"

if anyone can learn something from this...it just goes to show you to that spending the $80-120 for a full car inspection before buying a used car is worth the money. don't cheap out.
