911Fanatic vs RRover

Hadn't done this RRover since last summer. This was just a protection detail to tie him over for a few months until I polish it

Engine, jambs and inner fenders presoaked and rinsed with AG Powermax3
Foamed with straight AG Powermax3 and a shot of PB Super Slick & Suds
Washed with Poorboys Super Slick & Suds
Tires, wheels and inner fenders cleaned with AG Custom Wheel Cleaner.
Clayed with ClayMagic Blue
LSP today was Bilt-Hamber Auto Balm
Tires dressed with Blackfire Tire Gel
Glass cleaned with AG Fast Glass
Interior wiped down with PB APC diluted 6:1
Leather Conditioned with Lexol

Total Time - 7 hours

One very dirty RRover. Bad client!

After drivers door only. Guess I should have used AG Tar and Adhesive Remover eh?
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...r/DSCF0020.jpg

RRover paint is quite soft. The marring you see is from client washing and claying. Crazy soft!

Bilt-Hamber Auto Balm to the rescue. This is after one coat.

Awesome work Ken! I see a familiar 911 in the garage...

!Yaminashi 03-30-2009 09:03 PM

Wait, what is this Bilt-Hamber Auto Balm stuff?
I'd like to be able to remove micro marring and light scratches with just one coat and do all of that extra cleaning in 7 hours :D

Your work never ceases to amaze me, Ken

BrendanS 03-30-2009 09:06 PM

A wax won't remove scratches at all. You need to polish the CC in order to remove defects, wax just gives protection and shine. 7 hours is a tough deadline as well...

Oh I know about the polishing, but the Bilt-Hamber Auto Balm is a wax?
Im guessing it has fillers?

BrendanS 03-30-2009 09:10 PM

Yeah it is a wax, but I'm not sure about fillers. It might, but if you want something with fillers get a glaze and top it off with wax

911fanatic 03-30-2009 09:12 PM

The Bilt-Hamber Auto Balm is a sealant from England that I will be stocking in 4-6 weeks. Its the only LSP I have seen that has this kind of filling capability. The scratches aren't gone, just hidden. Getting rid of scratches means polishing. Period. This stuff would be wicked on your Acura. Great for applying right before a show.

this auto balm wax is it paste or the spray on wipe off type?

so for an engine that is cover up like the RR here do you still take any precaution before you soak it in water?

i really want to wash my engine, its got lots of cover (battery cover and what not) like the RR but not as much. I'm worry i might fuck it up if i just go and hose it off like the exterior.

also with the wheels did you use the gel on the tread part as well? i though thats not a good idea making the tire slippery and causing slig?

That would be pointless, it would wear off after 1/2 a km:haha:

Synaptik 03-30-2009 09:49 PM

great work again.

did you do it at his house?

Roach 03-30-2009 10:55 PM

That looks like a new SL63 in the garage, not a 911.

Kev

Auto Balm is a paste. As for the engine, the newer cars have electronic ignitions meaning that it's a lot safer for shampooing but i would recommend wrapping any electrical connections with saran wrap, just in case. And no, I didn't dress the tread. The way I apply the tire dressing means it wraps around the top of the tire for a finished look, that's all.

Yes, he lives pretty close to me.

Excellent pic, Kevin. It is indeed a new SL63. Funny thing is, last summer it was a 911 parked there!

If you look at my wehttp://www.autowerkesexclusive.combsite, you'll see all my pricing under detailing services. Right now I'm knocking 20% off if you bring it to my shop in Maple Ridge so I don't have to travel.

Amaru 04-19-2009 02:23 PM

One of the nicest detailing jobs I've ever seen. Props.

Evolution-Kevin 04-20-2009 07:29 PM

Good job Ken, and I thought all the times you weren't working at our shop you were having coffee thinking of all the money you made off us. LOL

911fanatic 04-20-2009 07:53 PM

I usually am!!

thumper 05-04-2009 11:56 AM

ken... what is the current ETA for the Bilt-Hamber Auto Balm? i guess this won't be part of the 15% off promo?

also, is it applied by hand or by buffer? what is it's lifespan?

BH stuff should be leaving the UK tomorrow. Peter is trying to find the most economical way to ship it. I may get a case air freighted so we have some right away. I may put all the BH stuff on sale when it gets here. It is applied by hand and one coat should give you 6 months easily. Apparently it will outlast even Colli 476.
