I've seen a video of an Eagle taking a Deer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAsXtDKdU0Q
They also take 15lb+lb salmon from the river I'm pretty sure that kitty would have been no problem

My grandfather fought an eagle for a trout once. Was out fishing on our lake, reeling in a nice big rainbow, when one of the local baldies swooped in and grabbed the fish. Fortunately the hook was in solid and Grandpa won the battle, but the fish had huge talon scars down its sides. We had a picture of it, I think Mom still has it stored away somewhere.
