Thanks for the tip! I was planning on putting it in gear and manually start the car when its on hills. I'll just rely on the e-brake now so I can make use of my auto start while on hills. thanks again!!

Expresso 04-30-2009 09:45 AM

lol! So you rather risk your car rolling down the hill just to use the auto start? ahah

DC5-S: You have two options as stated above. You both claim this incident at ICBC. But you must inform them you are willing to pay for all the damages sustained on the grandma's car. That way her car gets fixed and your premiums stay the same. Downside is there is a record of a claim on the vehicles. You will not lose your discount.

Or you just let grandma take it to her shop of choice you pay for it. No one has claims on their car and its a done deal. And you keep your premiums.

If you did claim and let ICBC pay for everything, you will be paying roughly 30% more so take your monthly payments and divide by 0.7 should give you a rough estimate. Until you get your discount back.

how do u manage to pass the drivers test if you can't even park on a hill...

DC5-S 04-30-2009 10:11 AM

okay here is the damages.. my question for you guys is, can her rear bumper be sanded, and painted or will it require a whole new bumper? and also, she doesnt know any bodyshops.. what bodyshop can i take it too that doesnt overly charge?

Wow, now you learn when parking you HAVE to must it in gear, whehter it'd be 1st, 2nd or REVerse.

DC5-S 04-30-2009 10:20 AM

thanks for the tip

I think this must've been said at least 6 times in this thread, I'm pretty sure he got the point the first time.

Anyway, oddly enough, DC5-S I was driving behind you last night on the bypass, you live very close to me in fact

You may not want to leave your fender like that, from the damages it looks like it MAY start to rust eventually
From the looks of it her SUV's bumper could probably just be sanded down and repainted or blended

Shun Izaki 04-30-2009 11:07 AM

if the hill is steep enough, i put my car in gear, and EFF my autostart. It's just safer.

That being said, see if you can work out a deal with grandma, ask her to take it to a shop and get a quote first (that's always the first thing to do).

DC5-S 04-30-2009 11:12 AM

she does not know a bodyshop.. thats why id like a recommendation

Peturbo 04-30-2009 11:15 AM

From the pictures, it seems the SUV's bumper could be fixed with a bit of the special putty for plastic bumpers. Forgot what's it called but a product by fusor.
Then paint of coarse.

As for yours, the fender it repairable but it seems like a 2-3 hour repair job.
Might be better off just replacing.
The bumper seems just scraped but mounts, clips and such might be bent/broken behind.
I had only just finished my 1st year on collision repair so just take that information for what ever its worth to you.

Because it's cool when you're not inside the car and the car starts itself.

DC5-S 05-01-2009 11:36 AM

Perhaps previously, but they don't seem to be as consistent anymore.

Go at your own discretion.

dont take it personally, just ask anybody to help u remove that 10 foot poll up ur ass, hopefully that'll take care of ur attitude.

btw. im speaking from exp. jackass

DC5-S , ebay's got some rsx stuff, get it shipped across to blaine, and clear customs.. might be cheap

LanEvoVII 05-02-2009 09:23 AM

If you are taking off the bumper and having it sprayed you are looking at a minimum of $600. Standard paint rate is $96.21+$41.19 paint materials PER HOUR and it should be about 2.4-2.6hr, but Im not sure how much time is required to take off and install those bumpers since toyotas are my expertise at my bodyshop
