RX8CER 04-29-2009 09:43 PM

Sorri to hear that,So...ur friends grandma smashed into your car?

Dinan3 04-29-2009 09:43 PM

I'd freak out too if someone hit my car.

Marco911 04-29-2009 09:44 PM

Do you know how much hassle there is for her to go thru ICBC, arrange to fix her car, take it to a body shop, get a rental, etc, etc on top of her geriatric schedule of bingo nights and Metamucil? Have some fucking compassion.

DC5-S 04-29-2009 09:44 PM

my car rolled down the hill into her suv... i parked at the same spot last time and it didnt happen.. i guess i didnt have my ebrake on all the way.. fuckk. its too dark to see the damage on her car so i will just look at it tommarow and maybe ill just pay her off if shes willing too

When you park on a hill, you need to put it in gear.

DC5-S 04-29-2009 09:48 PM

i was parked facing forward.. car front end down the hill.. would first gear work for that?

More like whenever you park, you need to put it in gear.

ICBC is the way to go. You will be considered at-fault for the claim, so you can either pay for Grandma's repair, and get no premium hit, or you can let ICBC pay it all and get knocked down some notches on the discount scale.

Yes, or use reverse, either way.

DC5-S 04-29-2009 09:55 PM

how much do u think ill get knocked down? im at like 25-30%

Presto 04-29-2009 10:00 PM

http://www.icbc.com/insurance/pdf/cl...e_APG26web.pdf

At 25-30% you move down 5 steps, which would put you at 0% or 5% discount.

My dad got into an at-fault fender bender in a parking lot. He was driving my mom's car. I was trying to help them decide whether it was worth paying for the damages, since the cost would be fairly minor. After discovering my mom was at -20 on the scale, we decided to let ICBC field this one. :)

DC5-S 04-29-2009 10:07 PM

so u think i shoujld just go thru icbc? i wonder how much more for insurance ill have to pay each money..

orange7 04-29-2009 10:22 PM

did you turn the front wheels so they're aiming toward the curb?

Carl Johnson 04-29-2009 10:23 PM

here is a better idea if the damage on the suv is really just scratches and scuffs like you said go hire a professional detailer. you'd be surprised what cut polish and touch-up paint can do.

DC5-S 04-29-2009 10:26 PM

i know how to detail and u cant do anything to this

quasi 04-29-2009 10:27 PM

Expensive lesson learned, leave it in gear in the future.

Fafine 04-29-2009 10:28 PM

yeah you need to put that shit in gear LOL. in either first or Reverse depending which way your facing AND the ebrake. gotta make sure you pulled it up all the way.

nah man i awsnt thinking im fucking stiupid.. there was no curb i was on the driveway.. i had parked there before with just the ebrake but i remember pulling the ebrake up really hard last time.. i didnt do it as hard this time.. took an hour before it finally gave out and went rolling down.. think im just gonna try to pay her off.. if not ill pay for her car and just leave mine be.. its still totally driveable.. althought the finder line is a bit close to the wheel.. i didnt hear any rubbing on the drive home.. if i go through icbc ill loose over a grand a year in savings so thats not worth it.. itll be cheaper to get it done privately

AzNightmare 04-29-2009 11:50 PM

I hope your car is silver.

It hides damages better. I still have damages across the side of my car and haven't fixed it for over 2 years. I got used to it :)

DC5-S 04-29-2009 11:53 PM

blue baby

DHP 1 04-30-2009 06:56 AM

the problem with manual is that for people who have autostart than cannot put it into gears, otherwise autostart will not work. Therefore the only thing they can rely on is e-break.

Soundy 04-30-2009 06:58 AM

^Or don't rely on autostart. Duh.
