While they're maintaining value, R8's are not overly rare cars, current owners will be trading in their old ones for the new R8 so we will be seeing a few more around. Like the same result of the Gallardo's.

No pricing yet for the new R8 for NA and only the V10 and V10+ will be coming out but rumor is the base price will be $195K, much higher for the V10+ so can't imagine too many owners making the trade up. And there is no word on a "base" R8 but there's definitely no V8 in the works, more of a smaller engine/hybrid.

And issue is not how many used R8's will come up on the market but how many clean R8's will hit the market. A lot of the cheaper R8's have accidents, higher mileage, no extended warranty, no service records, out of province, etc...Lucky for me my R8 was local and it qualified for Audi Care extended warranty because otherwise I would have never bought it.

I'm surprised how many 458's have clocked 20k+ and they've had very mininal issues. Amazing how far we've come with supercars where you can actually drive them as a DD's and not have to worry about crazy maintenance bills.

Yes, had a 458 and an R tronic R8 V10 prior to that actually. All you have to do is gently lift off the throttle as you hit the paddle, then dip the accelerator again gently as the gear engages. You'll be cruising in traffic in (relative) smoothness in no time as you get used to the flow.

Same concept for the Aventador I'm in now. Obviously the 458's DCT was a lot smoother, but there's a case to be made for the more 'emotional' single-clutch :sleepingzz:

There's a number of 458s in the US with over 100,000 miles (mostly those 'rental/track experience' cars in Vegas etc.) and those cars are beat to hell and back. No idea how much servicing or replacement transmissions they've gone through, but surely they can't be that bad?

I know of at least one owner in Japan with over 100k kilometers on his with nothing more to report than regular servicing.

All very anedoctal evidence I know, but there are higher mileage ones out there, and not '20k high mileage' ones at that!

Thanks, I'll try this method out.

How's the transmission in the Aventador? Is itsimilar to egear found in the LP560?

Hondaracer 11-26-2015 03:30 PM

The aventador I drove at exoticsracing felt clunky as fuck in the shifting, and quite a bit more of a delay than I had expected

Mind you it has 22,000 miles and the engine light was on lol

Saw a ducking beautiful huracan today driving up north road, it was a crazy blue and as the sun hit it almost looked like a chameleon paint. It was a few shades darker than a baby blue but pearl

Depends on mode... can be quite slow to shift in Strada (clearly prioritizing comfort), but is incredibly fast when shifting at redline in Corsa. Much much faster than I thought a single clutch gearbox could be.

Far more refined than the Gallardo's Egear in any mode though. I just leave it in Sport for everyday use.

The shift speed on the ISR gearbox varies greatly depending on mode, obviously the CEL can't have helped performance either hahaha

That Huracan was just wrapped... used to be green.

Hondaracer 11-27-2015 09:38 PM

Yea, was in full sport mode or w/e so obviously performance based

Wrap looked great in person, suited the car big time

No wonder I saw one of those with German plates on. Guy was at McDonalds too lol

Was so confused to why German plates here

Should've snapped a pic

Harvey Specter 11-29-2015 12:28 PM

Can you drive around with foreign plates? Wonder how the insurance works.

thumper 11-29-2015 01:13 PM

Yup. Obviously would want to tell your insurance provider that you're "traveling" so as to make sure you're covered. Probably can't stay in one place for more than a certain amount of time though, few months or so I would say.

When I was up north I remember seeing an insanely long parade of old Volvos, all with European plates on them, traveling up the Alaska highway. Ended up seeing all of them later at one of the hotels, probably about 100 cars.

Realistically it's no different than driving into the states with a BC plate. I'm sure it depends on a countries relationship with another wether it's going to be an issue or not, but I've heard of people touring all over the world in g-wagons and other cool stories like that.

A couple weeks ago I was invited to a photoshoot Marcel Lech was doing for Sea To Sky Exotics. I had a hayday with the behind the scenes, and the weather turned out perfect considering there was a rain fall warning the day before.
Very appreciative of the invite :)

my god that bentley is hideous

originalhypa 11-30-2015 02:02 PM

I wouldn't kick the Bentley out of my garage in the morning. I find that kitted cars can't be fully appreciated in pics. That is, unless Marcel Lech is taking those pics.
:p

Srsly tho, those are all very cool vehicles. Good spots saucy
:alonehappy:

Harvey Specter 11-30-2015 03:32 PM

Isn't that Bentley and a few other cars in the pictures posted above from some new exotic car rental company?

Hondaracer 11-30-2015 04:02 PM

"Seatosky" is the company that advertises the driving/rentals from Van to Whistler i believe

they invited me to the shoot with their inventory; it was inevitable I'd spot some sexiness ;) lol but thanks  I actually like look of the Bentley. It was fun to drive and it definitely made me change my perception of the car.

Ohhhh, that aston might be a fun way to enjoy my birthday.
It sucks that my birthday present last year with the porsche 911 turbo s rental got fucked over last minute by a problem with the car. Maybe this would be a do over.

Z3guy 12-01-2015 07:55 AM

^ Westopher, I know you like Porsche 911s, you will like the AMV8 as well, just make sure if you drive it for your bday, make sure it is a 6sp....if you try the auto, it will turn you off the brand big time.....the auto tranny absolutely sucks!

honestly, go for the f360

I enjoyed driving the Aston, but I think I would've liked either one of the Ferrari's.
