94 octane gas

Is it me or has 94 octane gas dissapeared? The last 4 gas stations i'v been to did not have 94. All the petros seem to have stopped selling it. hmmm? maybe only chevron has it now.

thumper 05-11-2009 05:57 AM

other stations had 94 before? i always thought it was just chevron, at least here in BC

yeah most petros had it before. Husky also has 94 but I only goto petro and chevron for 94. Never filled up with husky before.

Manic! 05-11-2009 11:49 AM

Petro is getting rid of 94 and thats straight from one of there reps.
94 is a waste of money.

Sure, if you drive a low compression, naturally aspirated commuter car.
Put 91 octane in either of my cars, one which was tuned on 94 to 19psi with gobs of timing, the other, a high compression V8, and you'll be buying new motors soon.

94 has it's place. Your obtuse generalization reelks of ignorance and a lack of experience. Do us a favor and read more, post less.

94 oct is avail at most chevrons... bitch finding it in someplaces in the states tho...

It's hard to find it in many places outside BC. There are no Chevrons outside BC in Canada.

SumAznGuy 05-11-2009 12:27 PM

There are some stations that still have 94 octane in Washington, and I think Sunco still have 100 octane, but those are becoming less and less.
I think Calif. went with 91 octane as being the highest grade available. There was a big discussion about this last year, IIRC.

And Manic is right. There is no need for 94 octane gas at the pumps. That's what home made octane booster is for. =P

Rich Sandor 05-11-2009 12:37 PM

Most people won't benefit from 94 octane. But most high performance sports cars REQUIRE higher octane fuel.

DJ Milk 05-11-2009 12:37 PM

Now that Petro Canada got rid of the 94 octane, I hate getting 91 octane from there since it's the same hose that the 87 octane is coming out of. So the first few liters of 91 octane I'm buying is actually 87 octane :eek5r:

thumper 05-11-2009 12:57 PM

yikes... i hope 94 octane dosen't go the way of the dodo because my car is chipped for it :o

For California, 91 Octane is the highest octane pump gas available. There are some gas stations (76 comes to mind) that sell a higher octane for the Lancer Evo which I think is 98 or 10x octane but they come ONLY in a barrel.

Sig'ed mutha' fucka! :D

ilvtofu 05-11-2009 03:41 PM

i feel so left out for using 89 :(

shenmecar 05-11-2009 03:49 PM

im sure chevron will still have 94

tho there isn't really a big need of it in the population anyways. ppl who use 94 brought it onto themselves by tuning their cars for performance.

Do you see more people with toyotas or turbocharged rice rockets?

yoall 05-11-2009 04:49 PM

uh......i would only use that in a last ditch resort if there was no 94 octane, the best they had was 89 and i had about 19 bottles of octane booster to use

No manufacture requires or recommends 94 oct in North America even Ferrari requires 91 oct. If you have had your car tuned for higher oct that’s a different story. I bet 99% of the owners who put 94 oct in there car don’t have there cars tuned for 94 so it’s a waste. Many provinces and stated don’t even sell 93 or 94 oct.

If Chevron stops selling 94 oct or you move to another province what will you do?

I remember a Harley owner who was out of gas and afraid to put 91 in his bike because he was told it would only run on 94. I asked him do people own Harleys in California because the only sell 91 oct down there. The guy stood there with a confused look on his face, put in a few $ gas and rode to Chevron.

TheSalesman 05-11-2009 09:49 PM

If chevron gets rid of the 94, then there's still 92. Or would you go with the husky 94? lol

Dear Mr bcrdukes,

Thank you for contacting Petro-Canada Customer Service. We appreciate your taking the time to write.

We are currently unable to serve you with gas and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. We are in the process of removing Super Premium 94, but we will continue to offer the other fuel grades.

Although we will no longer supply Super Premium 94 to the BC market, we feel that our Super 91 premium gasoline offers Canadian motorists what they need for their high performance vehicles. Super 91 is a high quality, top tier fuel that includes the Petro-Canada additive package to provide motorists with the premium gasoline they need for high performance vehicles.

If you still require Super Premium 94, some of our competitors offer the 94 octane product in BC (Chevron / Husky / Mohawk).

We appreciate your patronage and look forward to continue serving you.

Regards,

Tayo Ojuri

if you really wanna petro canada 94 octane, just buy chevron 94 and add tactrol in it. you'll have a petro canada 94.

but i heard that techron is better than tactrol tho.
