Obama: 35.5MPG by 2016 Link: http://ctv2.theglobeandmail.com/serv...N/ctv-business If you're in the market for a performance car, better get one soon. |
so...what's gonna happen to Lamborghini, Pagani, Bugatti, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Maybach, Bentley, GM, Ford, Chrysler, etc? |
greenhouse effect is bs. But lighter more efficient cars are welcome. I want a brand new kei car if that's ever going to be available in this administration. |
speaking about kei cars, why don't we have one in Canada and US? |
more like we're running out of gas. |
market demand + crash test failure against SUVs and stuff. |

no one is going to drive a small ass car when there are so many SUVs and trucks on the road |
I'd definitely welcome gas electric sport cars. Fuel sipping on everyday commute but high performance when needed. |
I think there is enough market demand for kei cars. also crashing with SUV...isn't that same thing as smart car? |
Bye Bye Ferrari. |
I think what you will see happen with Ferrari and other performance cars is they will have different settings on the ECU. One will be called street which will be extremely detuned to get the MPG they need and then another called race which will double the power. |

Wait is this gonna apply to every car? Or will their be a special tax you will be required to pay to drive high-end cars like Ferrari? With Obama controlling what vehicles auto makers are manufacturing now, can anyone see him release a vehicle similar to the Nazi Beetle? I hate Hitler references, but the evidence is the writing on the wall. |
35MPG isn't that unachievable especially with a decent amount of time. And that ECU idea sounds like it makes sense, as long as they don't monitor whether u use it or not |

cylinder deactivation technology is very possible....And then Ferrari had always been talking about some kind of power recovery system and a possible hybrid performance package.... So they should be very set to make the changes.....Smaller exotic firms on the other hand....? |
This won't kill sports cars or Lambo's or Ferrari's or anything... just a bigger gas guzzler tax slapped on top just like there is today on any car that doesn't meet today's EPA standards. I'm sure they're will also be loopholes (which Lotus and others have used previously in the U.S.) to allow for manufacturers of vehicles sold in such small volumes that it doesn't matter for them anyway... |
exactly achieving 36mpg highway is pretty easy even with 4 cyls let alone 2 |
