Telus Turbo

Anyone have this yet? Do they charge you extra if you go over your bandwidth limit?

If you hate the major internet providers, who do you use for your service?

i've been on telus for so many years and they've never charged for extra BW (i'm on regular hi-speed).

I'm only getting like 2.8Mb/s down though...400kb/s up

Telus is fucking dumb, today they called my grandparents house and left a message saying that the phone and internet would be out for 5 mins while they swapped some parts at the junction box down the road and to call them back. the clowns didn't leave a number, and their phone and internet is still out. they had to drive to our house to call the number on their bill to get sent around to finally find some other clown who barely knew what was going on. my grandpa told them if it isn't fixed by 9am they're switching to Shaw internet and phone.

just got mine setup yesterday...

not bad not bad.

$28 a month for this kind of speed is pretty good in my books - can't complain (Telus retention gave me a sweet deal - no contract required).

Will have to use it for awhile to see if they acutally enforce that 100GB cap or not.

Otherwise it's a pretty sweet deal.

$48 a month for "up to" 15 Mbps? OUCH!

AND they limit you to 100GB a month? Jesus fucking christ, is this 2001 or 2009?

BOOYA!

but i dunno what it is, they say it's 25Mbps down but i've been getting faster than that speed obviously. i think it's fiber optic.

i downloaded harry potter 4 in like 4minutes yesterday, something crazy like that. 800mb version though.

Yeah and whats the Telus retention number? Wow at the speed you're getting.

Jesus christ, I just phoned in and asked why im paying so much for such little speed and they're like "Oh I can upgrade you to the 6mbps for the same price since the High Speed service is 1.5-6.0". Wow, seriously? Then who would want the 1.5 speed at all.

I'm trialing the Turbo right now, and I plan on going back to regular High Speed afterwards. The speed is decent, but the modem they give you fucking sucks, it cuts out at random and takes two minutes to start back up.

Request for the Thompson Modem. Just keep nagging them that it'll work. Then get your own Wireless setup.

I only have a month trial so I won't be doing that anytime soon, unless I swap out my modem (before I trialed, I had an old D-Link modem hooked up to a wired router) when I step down at the end of the month. The Siemens one they give you is a terrible piece of junk...

I'm running the Siemens modem and have no problems so far. Been using it for almost 3 years now. But yes It is a junk modem. Regardless if you step down you'll still use the Siemens. You need to ask them for the Thompson modem. The best one out of the bunch.

couldn't pass that up so I took the deal and it's been working great!
