Telus Turbo

Anyone have this yet? Do they charge you extra if you go over your bandwidth limit?

i still hate telus...just like i hate shaw...and bell and rogers

TekDragon 06-08-2009 09:29 PM

If you hate the major internet providers, who do you use for your service?

twitchyzero 06-08-2009 09:41 PM

i've been on telus for so many years and they've never charged for extra BW (i'm on regular hi-speed).

I'm only getting like 2.8Mb/s down though...400kb/s up :(

underscore 06-08-2009 11:36 PM

Telus is fucking dumb, today they called my grandparents house and left a message saying that the phone and internet would be out for 5 mins while they swapped some parts at the junction box down the road and to call them back. the clowns didn't leave a number, and their phone and internet is still out. they had to drive to our house to call the number on their bill to get sent around to finally find some other clown who barely knew what was going on. my grandpa told them if it isn't fixed by 9am they're switching to Shaw internet and phone.

wahyinghung 06-10-2009 05:46 PM

What happened to the telus extreme package?

ime2006 06-10-2009 07:02 PM

fxxking hate telus............

$48, i would go for shaw xtreme...........

Bonjour43MA 07-19-2009 04:40 PM

just got mine setup yesterday...

not bad not bad.

$28 a month for this kind of speed is pretty good in my books - can't complain (Telus retention gave me a sweet deal - no contract required).

Will have to use it for awhile to see if they acutally enforce that 100GB cap or not.

Otherwise it's a pretty sweet deal.

SkinnyPupp 07-19-2009 10:05 PM

$48 a month for "up to" 15 Mbps? OUCH!

AND they limit you to 100GB a month? Jesus fucking christ, is this 2001 or 2009?

johny 07-19-2009 10:06 PM

$28 ???

BOOYA!

but i dunno what it is, they say it's 25Mbps down but i've been getting faster than that speed obviously. i think it's fiber optic.

i downloaded harry potter 4 in like 4minutes yesterday, something crazy like that. 800mb version though.

where do you live? wow i guess they just upgraded your area to fiber optics. how much are you paying

i realize our local ISP all hvae shitty upload rates..

JordanLee 07-20-2009 02:32 PM

Yeah and whats the Telus retention number? Wow at the speed you're getting.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/521661894.png

Jesus christ, I just phoned in and asked why im paying so much for such little speed and they're like "Oh I can upgrade you to the 6mbps for the same price since the High Speed service is 1.5-6.0". Wow, seriously? Then who would want the 1.5 speed at all.

lilaznviper 07-20-2009 03:08 PM

shit mayb i should go back to telus ahah if the speeds are that fast now
but then agian when i had telus a couple of years ago my net never really worked for more than 2 days

CorneringArtist 07-20-2009 05:17 PM

I'm trialing the Turbo right now, and I plan on going back to regular High Speed afterwards. The speed is decent, but the modem they give you fucking sucks, it cuts out at random and takes two minutes to start back up.

skyxx 07-20-2009 05:54 PM

Request for the Thompson Modem. Just keep nagging them that it'll work. Then get your own Wireless setup.

CorneringArtist 07-20-2009 06:00 PM

I only have a month trial so I won't be doing that anytime soon, unless I swap out my modem (before I trialed, I had an old D-Link modem hooked up to a wired router) when I step down at the end of the month. The Siemens one they give you is a terrible piece of junk...

skyxx 07-20-2009 06:22 PM

I'm running the Siemens modem and have no problems so far. Been using it for almost 3 years now. But yes It is a junk modem. Regardless if you step down you'll still use the Siemens. You need to ask them for the Thompson modem. The best one out of the bunch.

ditto.

I asked for the Thompson SpeedTouch and hooked up my own router behind it - works great!

yip. called telus and started to complain about my super slow 3mbps line (I have Telus HD tv so can't get more than that). They transferred me to retention and the guy offered me to install a 2nd line into my house for internet only, 1 month free + $28 for 1 year + $33 afterwards (not $38 like advertised, not too sure why but hey I'll take it lol), no contract.

couldn't pass that up so I took the deal and it's been working great!
