Vancouver Bike Share Program

Quote:
Try out a Public Bike Share System
Drop by and try out a public bike share system. It's your chance to see how a self-serve rental station for bikes works. You'll be able to take a bike out and go for a ride, then let us know what you think. (Please bring a helmet if you would like to ride one of the system's bikes.)

Friday, June 12 to Monday, June 15
Where: Seawall area south of Science World
When: 7am to 7pm (June 12 and 15)
10am to 4pm (June 13 and 14)

More at: http://vancouver.ca/engsvcs/transpor.../bikeshare.htm

So Vancouver is planning on putting together a "bike share" program that worked out in Montreal. Its proven to work in Montreal, will it work here? Anyone raging atm?

Found the link to the pay system. Might be different for Vancouver. When you rent the bike, it will take a $250 deposit of your credit card for obvious reasons. Not bad i say. I like it.

If I want to rent a bike one sunny Sunday afternoon for 2 hours, it would cost me
$5 for the one day subscription (this number is flexible depending on subscription package)
+$10.50 for the time renting
=$15.50.

How much do those other bike rental shop costs?

I see that happening. Crackheads will get stolen credit cards and steal them. The kiosks will be vandalized. This will work out about as well as Victoria's 'Blue Bike' program

There was some bum offering to parking tickets for half-price infront of BC place and my GF was wondering "how does he pay full price then sell for half"? == stolen CCs.

This system might work better by Stanley park, far away from Main/Hastings.

Or we can just solve the over-abundance of homelessness by re-locating the welfare office and shelter programs to somewhere like Abbotsford.
