At the time the hood struts worked but those are pretty cheap and aren't a big deal.

All the problems are minor, 3rd gear doesn't grind unless its going pretty fast, not city speeds.

As far as the shock goes, I don't really notice that problem, but my brother who is a mechanic says one of the rears is busted. I'll trust him on that but it's really not a big deal. Maybe I'll get a tokico kit or something.

^after 21 years you'd hope that none of the shocks have ever been changed,
and considering it has a rebuilt engine that they did and has less than 5000km on it, you'd expect the engine/drivetrain should be pretty good.

Thanks though, I'll get that syncro fixed since a powertrain warranty should cover a syncro. It's they're fault for not inspecting it well enough, I'll try to squeeze this out of 'em,

I've been shopping around for exhausts from crappy tire to overseas auto, I was just gonna buy a nice aftermarket one neways,

Here, I've never bought anything off of the Z store, as I've got a Z32 (we have specialty stores), but check these out:

^oo thats a nice cat back, 285 ain't bad either

Thanks for the site I never came across it on google before,

ilvtofu 06-17-2009 09:06 AM

Aww they're sold out of turbos, but 1000 can't afford it neways...

dang tokico
Springs = $260
Struts = $280
Maybe should stick with crappy tire...

Adsdeman 06-17-2009 09:15 AM

Not all dealerships are bad. Some have excellent service, just be aware that u gonna have to pay for it.

!Yaminashi 06-17-2009 09:16 AM

Tokico struts = good stuff

ilvtofu 06-17-2009 09:20 AM

a part of me secretly wants to get window louvers on my car, but another part of me knows that RS will flame me for it...

ilvtofu 06-17-2009 09:31 AM

damn the Z store would be heaven if I had the 240 that I so desperately want :(

window louvers = early old-skool rice? :haha:

(up there with tailight striping and double-bladed wipers with wings ;) )

ilvtofu 06-17-2009 09:48 AM

window louvers would look nice if my car was black I don't know about white though,
Taillight striping? is that sort of like what Z32's have?

orange7 06-17-2009 11:30 AM

you need to get a loud exhaust for that car.

ilvtofu 06-17-2009 02:19 PM

Already has a loud exhaust, actually sounds pretty good, but it's only cos it's rusted through maybe I'll record it someday

Ikkaku 06-17-2009 03:10 PM

damn i should've taken a better look at the car last time I was over :p

My buddy had a Shiro with an aftermarket exhaust, it sounded phenomenal. Get an aftermarket cat-back.

Shun Izaki 06-17-2009 04:47 PM

Morrey does suck... having been there at one point in my life...

too much internal conflict as well.

They usually take the nice cars out, rip them around, and have their way with them before selling as well :)

good luck on the car, but honestly, that old, and you expect everything to be 100%?

tofu1413 06-17-2009 04:47 PM

biggest issue is indeed the syncro.. they'd just swap your tranny for a used one from wrecker...

but yep, its a 21yr old car. what'd u expect? i'd been through much much worse.... T_T

some_punk 06-17-2009 05:59 PM

^^ hehe i guess you could call it preOWNED

But yeah I actually still like the car and never hated the dealership, but maybe If I can squeeze something of them it's a win for me. But I'm not taking this too seriously neways, The 3rd gear syncro I don't really mind, I'm not planning to race this car and it's fine for city driving

LOL Ikkaku we have to swap the engine out of your dad's jeep into this thing that things bulletproof!

ilvtofu 06-17-2009 06:01 PM

^Woops I totally didn't realize my bro was logged in...

Now I can't not admit it... Thanks for putting me on the spot ikkaku!

jing 06-17-2009 07:17 PM

You probably bought a vehicle that was just going to be sold off to wholesale. Wholesale vehicles are sold AS IS, and so you're SOL.

tofu1413 06-17-2009 07:40 PM

too bad you didnt pick up that shiro that was on craigslist a month ago... now that was an awesome Z31.

ilvtofu 06-17-2009 07:54 PM

I saw that shiro but it had over 300,000 kms i think,
but it was only around $2000 too, shoulda gone wif that :(

Ikkaku 06-17-2009 09:10 PM

lol sorry man!

the jeep... engine may be bullet proof but the body isn't LOL .. you should see the thing... the door is falling off its hinges :lol

Hmm so did u actually talk to the salesperson/sales manager of the Morry Nissan Coquitlam before or after u filed the complain to BBB?

Technicians at most dealerships will usually do a short road test on the vehicles that they do safety inspections on. Mostly drive around the block & will hardly take those cars up to a highway speed. It's just not so cool to see a technician book it down the highway with a dealer plate on. That's probably why they didn't feel the 3rd gear problem during a road test?

When u buy a car, u should really talk to the sales guys/private seller and find out what exactly is covered after u bought the vehicle. Always make sure if the car is still covered under manufacturer's warranty if it's a newer car. For a 88' model the owner MUST shop carefully & stay sharp with all these warranty stuff.

I think it's safer to buy vehicle from a dealership with good background(OpenRoad/Morrey) coz I don't think they will keep the car if it's in such a bad shape. It cost the sales guys to fix up the car, and they aren't even sure if they can get that money back by selling the car. PLUS they will never wanna end up with an angry customer.

They just won't run it like one of those used car lot on Kingsway coz they care about their reputation.

ilvtofu 06-17-2009 10:02 PM

To be honest the car isn't in such bad shape besides the exhaust, everything is pretty decent/livable, on my test drive I couldn't even notice the 3rd gear syncro, you really have to be going pretty fast to get it.

At least this opens me up to the whole customization scene.

spoonek4 06-17-2009 10:04 PM

An older model car just can't take much abuse anymore. U gotta put a lot of work into it to make it runs nice & strong!
