any oil consumption is determined by the condition of the motor and therefore, the maintenance or lack thereof

fyi since starting the post, i bought an integra and loving it so far

also fyi, door latch in the back breaking is a common issue for integras i've discovered (ie u gotta open the back with a key, and can't do it automatically) and is broken on the car i bought. I dont' realy care though, just thought i'd add it on.

hope you enjoy it, what year did yuo end up getting?

and to add on, if it is used and for daily driving.. i would choose rsx for overall reliability and maintenance. timing belt vs timing chain.

i ended up getting a 98 rs, and then i found a good deal on gsr leathers for 500 bucks. So total cost was 6500 with leather and car and the car only had 105k kms and had timing belt done

also a note: my mechanic said timing belt on integras needs changing at 170k (according to his book)! that's crazy

no way the original timing belt can last for 170k! pre-2000 cars are usually 100k.

It's 5 years or 100k whichever comes first. However, the water pump can usually last until your 2nd t belt change. If you go to a dealer- they'll most likely recommend changing the water pump at the same time.

i was under the impression that it's around the 100k mark, but my mechanic whipped out a book he has for the integra which stated 170k for that particular car. That's kms. Aka 105k miles.

not that i'd ever let it run that long, and i don't know the specifics...just saying what happened

yes. i was surprised as well when i checked the maintenance interval for the t-belt on my gf's civic. it stated 168k on the alldata. i believe every one thereafter is 100k though.
good to see you got the cosmetically upgraded 98.
i've always been a fan of the 90's era for japanese imports. this is the time that the highest percentage was spent on research and development. though i prefer late 80's-early 90's. it seems like after 2000, japanese automakers didn't need to try as hard to gain consumer interest. i guess it's just the nature of the business

if you were going for non-GSR/ITR i'd suggest RSX especially if it's auto.

but both are good choices.
Personally hate the bug eye front-end, and i think the interior is outdated. RSX will be there in a few years.

Integra gets stolen easier, RSX has the pricey insurance...i'd rather opt for the latter but that's just me.

Enjoy your teg!

what do u guys mean the interior is outdated? i put in leather seats recently into the integra and am loving them...they're not as good as the rsx seats but quite nice imo...the cloth seats are a bit retro though.

but then again, i'm going from a 1986 car to a 1998 integra, so to be anything's impressive lol

never liked the blindspots in the RSX, especially with those seats, but the DC4's body is definitely less stiff compared to the DC5

i was gonna say if you get either of these cars either get the DC2R or DC5S, but you already got the 98 RS.

like i suggested in your tint thread, i'd go for the jdm front. especially if you're only focusing on cosmetic look. google some pics and you should see how huge the improvement is

anyways, enjoy the RS. tons of aftermarket parts for your car.

for everyone else, i heard the insurance is bad for rsx but is it really worse than owning a civic? #1 stolen car in bc again this year lol... originally my 98 EK with 30% discount was $2500/year (~3 yrs ago now).

IIRC, the civic and the RSX share alot of parts and the chassis. Hmmmm i'd go with a teg, love 90s japanese cars. But you got the RS, hmmm meh i would of done up a DC2R since you had the budget for one and do a JDM front

boyfriend owns a RSXtypeS

Great car, hes had it for a while .. shes a great car. they dont have any usual problems a integra can have.
integras can have the annoying issue of the IACV going which is pretty common..etc.

I personally would get an RSX. they are perfect for what you seem to be looking for.
