rsx vs. integra
 

hi everyone,

gonna buy a car in the next few months and debating between a 2002 auto RSX premium vs. a 98-01 auto integra w/leather.

Not really using it for speed. Rather, want a car that won't break, looks cool and that I can lightly modify (prolly just rims/coilovers/lip) down the road.

So far, I know that integras have leaky/faulty trunks/sunroofs and have not heard much negative things about the RSX at all.

Any good or bad experiences with any of these cars, mechanical problems you know of or advice would be appreciated!

you're from richmond so im assuming the first thing you'll do is install HIDs, if it doesnt have it already. Go for the Integra because the projectors are much better in preventing light scatter. Plus integras has double wishbone suspension in front and rear. RSX only has it in the front.

LOL stop the profiling. It's not the FIRST thing i'll install. Nah, honestly speaking, I'm not even that big on HIDs.

The RSX is a pretty comfy car, and if you're using for your daily. I'd suggest it as the back seat has a big advantage over the old integras.

as long as the car has been taken care of, it's pretty reliable. I've been through alot with my type-s, but it still pullin strong, and rides very comfortably.

Compare insurance price as well before you make your choice.

You've chosen it to be an automatic already so I'd recommend the RSX since it's got slightly more hp but the torque you'll enjoy over the Integra's 1.8L motor producing just over 126 tq.. Plus the RSX would be a more comfortable daily commuter.

Then again I'd never sell my Integra for an RSX :thumbsup:

My g/f wanted an RSX for the longest time, until she found out how much she would have had to pay for insurance. Although a nice car, you really have to want one to justify the high insurance.

Frankly, you can't go wrong with either car. If it were me, I'd buy a Teg, and do the Japanese front end conversion. That = teh sex!

a lot of people say the Integra has way better handling.

I've seen people saying how DC5 should have been K20 powered DC2.

Did you look at insurance prices for the RSX? Hope you have at least 40%. I think for your criteria, the RSX will be better. IMO, I would never buy an Automatic Honda. They kind of lack torque.

BUT, I would strongly consider this option (Im the kind of guy that would take a DC2-R over and RSX-S and day so Biased)

Grab yourself an 98+ Dc4 with leather, 5 spd, throw on some Ground Control and HnR yellows, summer tires and wheels around 15lbs or less, and a rear ITR swaybar with reinforcement bracket. Find a replica Type R lip, call it a day. Cheaper, easy to maintain and fun to throw around.

Im not a fan of new hondas. They are quieter, more fuel efficent -yes, but not as fun to drive (you may not have a clue what Im talking about if your youngin) Gone are the days of the crx and when civics were such a great platform.

I get what you mean, although the new honda's are really nice... they just aren't the same as the older ones. :(

I'd take a DC2-R over a DC5-S anyday as well, but OP's not looking for top trim, and almost ALL integras are beat down over time... might just be easier in the reliability factor.

go drive them both ... rsx is a much nicer car all around ... everything about it is just nicer ... owned them both ... modified them both ... raced them both ... daily driven them both ... much smoother and quieter ride ... k series will react to bolt ons much nicer then any b series ... buy a 05 - 06 rsx ... teggys gettin old ...

^I would have to imagine, the only reason you'd like the integra over RSX is because you're a fanboy, or you hang with fanboys who'll tell you that ain't no real integra! and you give in to peer pressure easily, besides RSX is still being made isn't it?

Both cars are incredibly popular and so neither have a specific rareness to them, even today old integras are all over the place, not necessarily type Rs, but most ppl can't tell.

^ No, Rsx was discontinued, 06 was their last year of production.

i have owned 2 dc5s and currently owning a dc2r now
to be honest..dc5s is quite powerful in the low end and dc2r is more in the high end
in term of maintenance and cost and stuff..thats probably your major concern rite..
dc2...parts are everywhere esp: body parts, replacement parts
while dc5...its still relatively new and body parts are more expensive as well as replacement parts
there are also more used performance upgrds for dc2 than dc5 isnt it?
im not sure about auto, but if ur buyin either dc2 or dc5, get a manual trans then u wont regret about it..considering you are lightly modding it as u said
as for mechanic probs, the b series are gettin old and most of them burn engine oil lolz, but thats just a common prob...
in my opinion, get a dc5s if you are able to, it has everything you will be lookin for in an auto leather rsx cept dc5s is manual

when u guys say oil burns...do u mean as the car reaches 2xx,xxx km's, gets old and naturally wears down, the engine oil burns?

or are you saying that even at 1xx,xxx km's, at a reasonable age in reasonable condition, the car is just known and prone to burning oil, as some sorta defect??? I think the most important things to me are reliable engine and transmission, so this is kinda scary sounding.

you want a daily driver that you can lightly mod (mostly for show and no go).
you'd be happier with the rsx. trust me.
