I know Sedins have been hot of late but this is the 2nd game where Sedin sticks out his stick and has been called for it and once again the other team scores on the PP (actually 2nd 4-3 that's cost us the game) and we lose the game. Just small, lazy fucking plays have cost us 4 points.

Interference, holding the stick, tripping etc. They have this pacifist reputation so nothing gets called.

ok, sure Brodeur is a great goalie, the greatest of all time? perhaps stat wise but imo i still feel Roy is the better goaltender of the two, he did not need to stick around and play to obtain records, he obtained them virtually all on skill and more than once led a team on his back to a final and ultimately a cup [sure bro can be attributed with similar stature but as i've pointed to imo the system he plays in contributes largely to his success]
As for the Olympics and the starting role, here's my take, Babcock and Yzerman are not stupid and as they have pointed out they are willing to make sacrifices and exemptions to put the absolute best team on the ice as possible, this includes building lines for chemistry, to play roles, etc. and taking the players who are going the best at the time and give them the best chance to win
now.. to start Luongo over Bro all things equal would be a HUGELY ballsy move, that would essentially mean your running with Luongo for the games and your putting your full confidence behind him over Bro, the reason why Luongo wont start is because him starting is a very risky scenario for Babcock and Yzerman, even though imo i truly believe that when those two take a look, in their heart of hearts i truly believe they think that Luongo could be, or perhaps even is the better goalie of the two for these games BUT.. when you start Bro and even if he fucks up and your forced to put Luongo in, it's still a Win-Win situation for the team, they went with the vet, he fucked up, we have an excellent second option, we win the gold with Lu, and the brains look like geniuses, if you start Lu and he fucks up, you put Bro in, he fucks up, and we lose, now all fingers will be pointed at that decision
As i've said before, sure Lu has his down games, but playing the teams we play, and the style the canucks play, Luongo has single handedly earned his reputation and has shown consistantly that he is more than able to handle multiple excellent scoring chances throughout a game, 2 on 1's, 3 on 1's etc. imo Bro does not face these chances on a nightly basis, nor has he over the past 4-5 seasons, he sees a few good chances a game, the rest are shots from the outside and broken down plays
So I ask, is a 37 year old [oldest player on team Canada] goalie really the one you want between the pipes when your staring down the Sedins, or an Ovi-Kovulchuck-Malkin Line?
With all of us watching the Sedins on a nightly basis, you actually think Bro can stop the kind of plays they can dish out in the form of slap passes, cross-crease feeds, etc.?

i agree roy is the better goalie. always hated the guy, but you HAVE to respect how good he was.
personally, i'd start bro 1st game, then 2nd game lu.
brodeur has earned the right to be the official starter for team canada.
but then again, if i were picking team canada, i'd put a guy like willie mitchell on the team. rofl.

Didn't get to watch the game tonight, and forgot where I heard it, maybe sportsnet pacific..during the highlights, they showed the Hordi fight against Boogard and Bolduc against their 6'6 dude, and how Boogard said in the post game that Hordi told him that AV told them (him and Bolduc) that they had to fight..thought that was interesting..
