Add on top its only for brand new cars not older than 3 years? Can't recall.

I would bet on a write off, especially since its RHD.

CivicTypeRice 06-26-2009 03:05 PM

It's three years and it doesn't matter if you're at fault or not.

Thats bs. Then everyone would go crash it on purpose when they get tired of it and get a later model.

that is correct.
new car insurance is another $1000-$1500. One time only fee though.

why the hell would anyone purposely crash their car and total it just because they want a new car? risk of injury? cost of insurance going up? transaction cost? hassles?

well, it does not apply to the OP's case. but for many other people with new cars, i think this is an awesome policy. i don't think it's provided by ICBC thought. it's provided by private insurance companies like HUB.

Is your DRL smashed?
The light housing on the JDM drivers side middle.. like where the impact is.
If it's not, can I have it?
And your lip too! :)

Icbc replacement cost is good for the first 3 years when the car is new and
if you have at least 20% discount. If you have less than 20% discount then you are eligible for limited depreciation model.

Some private companies offer 4 or 5 years for replacement or LDL

AzNightmare 06-27-2009 04:21 PM

Wow... that's a write off...

tiger_handheld 06-27-2009 06:15 PM

So much for representing the NBA eh ?

when they call you and give you the rundown of the value of the car and how much they'll be paying you to write off the vehicle, note down the value, but don't accept it... YET.

make sure you have done some market research ( local car ads from craigslist, buysell etc ) for the price of other cars similar to yours. show icbc the ads (fax) and they'll take the write off value into consideration again.

mine went from 5600 to 7000 after i quickly pulled 3 ads off buysell.

I think that's very harsh. Who is he to judge on the OP just based on this accident.

everybody on this forum judges, you can always count on some negative feed back from douche bags and hope for some good stuff.
