They probably get a nice staff discount as well.

^Yup.. A bit less than Holt. I know a couple people working at Holt Renfrew, and making an average $30-$40 an hour.
I considered it.. but I just can't live my life depending on commission. And who knows if they're going to be here in 10, 15 years.

Try FL or Champs.

I preorder mine and they give me SPC discounts. Comes out to around $160+

I'm not a sneakerhead either, but the Air Jordan 3 is my favorite shoe ever.

In June, the AJ3 True blues will be released and in December the black/cement AJ3 will be released too,I will be buying both those models.

Great opportunity to buy the True Blues if you missed the released in 2009. Also, the black cements 3's for 2011 is great for the people who didn't get the CDP pack.

Although the CDP black cement 3's have shitty quality. I am thinking if I should buy the upcoming 2011 pair.

HR will be around for a long time, long as they continue to carry good brands that people want, then people with money will continue to shop there. The first time I discovered HR was like 20 years ago, well they are still here today,so I don't think they will be disappearing anytime soon.

I will be picking up the true blues and the black/cement when they get released this year.

As far as I can remember, the AJ3's have always had quality issues, and the problem was just the paint on the foam part of the shoes, even the original AJ3's back in 1987-1988 had the same problem,so nothing has really changed.

^Holt will still be here, but with Nordstrom coming, I don't see them hiring many people.. or any one's comission skyrocketing. I'm not saying it's a bad job, just a little hard to plan financially.

Side note, going to check out El Kartel tonight to see if they have any N&F left :(

Oh wow, did not know that. The heel portion for my True Blues from 2009 has already started to yellow for mine already.

I haven't seen may people with the True blues from 2001 though. Although the owners of those sneakers claim the quality of the retros were better 10 years ago and beyond.

filth 01-27-2011 04:02 PM

nordstrom sucks though

Not really racist! 01-27-2011 04:39 PM

wat, whens nordstrom coming?

PJ 01-27-2011 04:44 PM

Not sure exactly. Heard it on the news/radio.

The white plastic and foam turning yellow was always apparent with the AJ3's(it was never really a big issue),I was told with the new retro 2011 AJ3's the problem has been fixed with better material.

Of course the guys with the retro Jordans from 2001 are going to say that, they need to keep the value high on their investment, those editions are going for anywhere from 600-800 a pair.

I watch an interview done by Holt's CEO a few weeks ago and he discussed the impact Nordstrom expanding into Canada might have on their business, he seemed unconcerned about the threat of new competition. Holt is so well established within it's niche market any competition, American or otherwise, would have difficulty cutting into their market share.

PJ 01-28-2011 04:45 PM

^ No, I agree. But if another store is opening with some of the same brands, theoretically there will be some strain one way or another.

Having said that.. if given the choice, I'm sure 9/10 people would still buy the item from Holt just to carry the pink bag. Myself included. :D

I searched, but wasn't able to find a link to the interview anywhere; it was on The Lang & O'Leary Exchange.
