someone i know drove a IS250 with navi and the examiner just kept on looking at the navi the whole time lol

if you got a baller car its a pass hahaha

v.Rossi 07-06-2009 12:15 PM

^ why is it a pass? should be more of a fail, take richmond for example.

OT but, is it true for the class 5 that you can drive with 1 hand?

you 07-06-2009 03:00 PM

op wats to show off

monkeywrench 07-06-2009 03:04 PM

Btw for those of you who drive nicer cars, more like exotic cars, SOME examiners tend to admire your car and talk about it more than even examining you. Some may ask if they can drive it for a spin too

Real story, from the Richmond ICBC on Minoru

The car was a 911

BoostCreep 07-06-2009 03:41 PM

Alright thanks guys.

where did you hear that from? of course you're not allowed driving with 1 hand. it's against the rules of safety!
two hands at all times!

As for me, I'll be getting class 5 in October, and im taking my uncle's beater tercel to do it in. Ill pass for sure!

my cousin has that or a 545i and it wasn't in the best condition at the time hahaha but like I said last moment ... he doesn't let me drive it anymore :(

JSALES 07-07-2009 02:55 AM

just curious, are RHD vehicles allowed for the road test? it doesn't say anything on ICBC and i've never heard anyone take a test in a RHD car. any stories or if you've used a RHD vehicle?

AzNightmare 07-07-2009 04:20 AM

RHD are legal here, so they should be allowed for roadtests. No one uses them because it's it's harder to make left turns and it could be akward for the guy testing you. Not a good idea.

shenmecar 07-07-2009 08:51 AM

^

i think the examiner will be biased to fail you before he even steps in your RHD car.

JSALES 07-07-2009 08:33 PM

what if the examiner was a car enthusiast and loved the ride haha

koo 07-07-2009 08:49 PM

I didn't wear my seatbelt for my class 5 test and I still passed!

E=mc˛ 07-07-2009 09:03 PM

I missed a school zone on my class 5 test (but got all others, about 7-8 I think) and the guy still passed me.
w00t coolest examiner EVER

lilaznviper 07-07-2009 10:53 PM

dude if its a school zone but there is no school you can go regular speed

but if there is school going on then its immediate fail

gnat. 07-07-2009 10:55 PM

^^ wtf?!? seriously? no seatbelt and you still passed?! holy shit. where did you take your test? haha

^ rofl. i did a minor rolling stop, but i still stopped behind the stop sign..and i still passed too. :haha:

JSALES 07-10-2009 01:43 PM

has anyone failed there class 5? how long is it? isn't it just highway, 3 point turns and whatnot

ilvtofu 07-10-2009 02:46 PM

While we're on topic of road tests. Neone done their class 7 in richmond?

monkeywrench 07-10-2009 03:21 PM

Class 5 road test is actually easier than Class 7. Theres no parking involved except when you're back at the office. My dad's a driving instructor and news says that 3-point turns aren't done any more. Might be only Richmond, not sure

koukimonst3r 07-10-2009 03:26 PM

I tried booking my Class 5 road test yesterday and the earliest date was sept 2 in coquitlam ): FML

didn't fail. but the test is approximately 45 mins - 1 hour. depending on your examiner! i finished mine in 40 mins.
no 3 point turns (from what my instructor had told me) might only be in richmond though!
short highway test to see if you can drive at the speed limit, your reaction, etc.
and then they take you around like the class 7N test (sometimes school zones, playground, neighbourhoods, they might ask you about the hazard perception...i didn't get asked though)

Class 7N in richmond is easy. reg. roads/neighbourhoods...playground/school zones, construction zones, no.3rd, pullover - hazard perception (sometimes twice), parallel parking, and then at the office - back up parking.

ilvtofu 07-10-2009 06:20 PM

Where do they do parallel in richmond? The whole No.3 Road construction is so annoying to drive through, but by the time i take my Class 7 in october it'll probably be done

Since it's a weekday, there's pretty much a guarantee of school.
Btw I lumped school zones with playground zones (obviously playground zones are more strict).

The examiner actually asked me "how fast are we goin here" and I said "almost 50" and he said "well we should slow down because this is a 30 zone".

So yeah lol
but in the end I still passed cuz I did everything flawlessly except that missed school/playground zone.

fuckin awesome fella

monkeywrench 07-10-2009 10:51 PM

yeah some examiners tend to be nice people and chat with you

some examiners are assholes and tell you to make a turn when its the last second till the intersection. for those examiners you should drive to the nearest highway and kick them off.

the few locations i remember...are: neighbourhood of brighouse elementary (be careful of the granville exit. it can be quite tricky sometimes), odlin park, and the neighbourhood in between 4rd and shell on alderbridge (diagonally across from the cadet site)

if you have instructor ask him/her to take you to all of the test routes and to run everything through with you just in case. cause you never know, they may have changed some things since 2 years ago.

but...this stuff doesn't apply to me anymore!!:haha:

threezero 07-11-2009 12:28 AM

to anybody else planning to take their, Good luck and if you do pass

say hello to your new fugly Driver license.

THe new design is so unoriginal and so ugly. I can't believe I pay 75$ for this piece of shit. In fact I would pay 100 just to get the license in the old style
