I got my class 5 few months ago. Few things to watch for are, no turning right when red. Located on No.3RD and bridgeport before turning right on to the bridge. Yield signs and school zone behind Costco area. |

I've been to 0 of the places you noted! :haha: I do drive in richmond a lot actually so I'll go google the route and do it a couple of times, Why does the test take 45 mins?!?!?! How far do they go? Is there any highway driving involved? or above 50 areas? |

it takes about 45 mins cause you might have to do hazard perception twice, pull over twice, they MIGHT ask you to parallel park twice. drive around for a good 20 mins to check your reaction time, your intersection scanning, and your shoulder checks. and then they take you into the playground area's where the speed limit is always 30km. see if you know when the speed limit starts and when it ends (the signs). and finally they take you back to the office to complete your test by doing the reverse parking. all in all, back and forth, it takes about 45 mins...give your take 5-10. make sure you scan ALL the time, especially at railroad tracks...shoulder check CORRECTLY all the time (merge left - shoulder check left, left turn - shoulder check left..and vice versa) don't worry about parallel parking and reverse parking as much. as long as your driving is good you can pass. providing that you don't hit anything. if you bump the curb...that's ok, but if you go OVER it or hit a car then that's a for sure fail! also...if the examiner tries to trick you and tells you to pull over where you're not allowed to (like fire hydrant) make sure you say no and don't do it. i think that's everything. |
if u are hesitating this much for class 5 when you are being tested for things u already should know ... i think u should do ur L again |
for the class 5 in burnaby which part of the hwy do you go on and how fast? |

but if you're tlking about ilvtofu - he's taking his class 7N, or so he says. |
Yeah i'm only 16... About the reverse parking, when i do this by myself, I always take a bit of extra space by going into the opposite direction, should i not do this while i'm getting examined? I'm not sure if u know what i mean lol |
^what do you mean? lolol |

Oh and watch your speed on garden city..its 60 before westminster and 50 after if you're heading towards steveston.. and for your parking..go to icbc during the weekends and practice..but yea i know what you mean..and no i wouldn't advise it..theres not much width in the parking lot..the head of your car might hit a parked car when you do a L park if you position your car in the opposite direction lane (even though its supposed to be one way in the icbc parking lot) |
^ you mean the 45 degree back up? if that's what you guys mean you can totally do that for your exam. i did it for my class 5, plenty of room! obviously you might have to fix it...but it's by far easier than counting stalls one. |

Do you have to do L park in like one movement? that's gotta be tough when u can't 45 degree park BTW would 55 be an appropriate speed for driving in the city where it's 50? or are examiners anal about that? |

like i said, parking's not that big of a deal, just make sure your driving is flawless! 55 was acceptable two years ago, but when i was doing my class 5 my friends told me that they're more strict now and it was like 48 - 52. but that might have been just for the class 5 exam..i'm not sure. you should clear that up with your instructor! (if you get an instructor prior to the test it's pretty much a for sure pass, providing that you can drive.) |
I just did my test, and the women was very lienent. I was doing 50 through a playground zone, and she told me to slow down. I missed 3 right shoulder checks, and 1 speeding. It took 35 minutes of freeway, and residential. |
lol can i recalibrate my car's speedo to say 50 when it's going 55 XD Sounds good gnat thanks for all ur tips! Now i'll be off to find a driving instructor just to get rid of all my bad habits XD wow it's been a good 9 months on the road now already... |
lolol i googled class 7 road test in richmond and found richmond driving school check this out http://www.richmonddrivingschool.com/index.php All the images are so weird the one on the left looks like theres a kid on a man's lap, although it's probably just a woman in the passengers seat XD The one in the middle isn't even a Canadian car The car on the right is RHD... And a VW W12? |
i LAWL at their site. why don't you just do something generic like...young drivers?? i went to wing on and my instructor's name is timmy. and they are certified. he was really nice, knew his stuff. english isn't his primary language (i think cantonese?) so he has an accent. but he's a pretty good instructor i'd say. obviously it'd be easier if you could understand chinese too, cause then if he isn't able to explain to you in english then he can always tell you in chinese. a lot of people go to YD for their GLP program, cause apparently they teach you things on a mini course like..what you do when you start losing control of your car. just call up a bunch of schools from the ICBC site. ask about their prices/hr. etc.etc. |
yup I lol'ed at that site, They don't seem very legit... they don't even have an address. YD is so $$, and I really don't need the whole GLP program. I might look into wing on or one of those chinese places, they might be friends with my examiner in richmond lol! |
^ rofl. possibly... my instructor told me stuff about the examiners...like how they behave and stuff, it was pretty funny!! some people say if you get Lucky (this brown examiner) you're very unlucky...but i thought he was very LUCKY! =D |
You have been driving on the road for 9 months, and about to take your class 7? You do not have to L park in one movement. Try to stay around 50km. |
