"Let's knock out the psychobabble. This guy was a pervert, he was a child molester, he was a pedophile. And to be giving this much coverage to him, day in and day out, what does it say about us as a country?" said King, a congressman from New York, who doubtless would insist he's no relation to the King of Pop.

The hard-nosed politico has no truck with the weepy adulation flowing into Los Angeles from Jacko's global fan base. "There's nothing good about the guy," insists King, who claims the performer could dance okay, but diddled kids in his spare time.

"He may have been a good singer, he did some dancing. But bottom line is, would you let your child or grandchild be in the same room with Michael Jackson? What are we glorifying him for?"

Jackson was acquitted in 2005 of child molestation charges.

King, a Republican from Long Island, was talking to a group of American Legion vets when the video was made.

"He died, he had some talent, fine. There are people dying every day — there's men and women dying today in Afghanistan, let's give them the credit they deserve," he said.

The media's hagiographic coverage of Jackson is what really rankles King: "I really think the media has disgraced itself, I think that too many people in public life have made fools of themselves by talking about Michael Jackson as it he was some kind of hero."

The cult of celebrity around Jackson sucks big time with King. Better the media honour teachers in urban ghettos, AIDS activists, cops and firefighters, he railed.

It is highly unlikely King will attend Tuesday's memorial service for Jackson, whose remains will reportedly be buried in an L.A. cemetery later.

Honestly, I hate people who take things for granted, that being said I never listened to any of his songs. Anyways, none of you guys talked about Jackson until he died, that alone says something. None of the radio stations I listen to played his songs or they rarely did. Once he dies, Virgin Radio plays his songs throughout the whole day? He WAS something special once upon a time, now let's move on. That's just my 2 cents.

Was he convicted of any crime? No. His case was heard in one of the most Conservative County in California but yet people still go on about this nonsense. If any jury were to convict him, it would have been the jury at his trial.

Actually his former personal assistant, who was in the hotel room at the time, said MJ was not on drugs when he dangled his child, he said MJ was extremely excited to show his fans and world his newborn and got carried away.

I also find it funny when someome people who claimed MJ's bedroom at his Neverland Ranch was a crazy dungeon with secret rooms but when they showed his room on Larry King live the room looked like any other room.
