I'm a glutton for punishment I love SPICY Beef Noodle Soup.
Surprisingly the best flavour I've had from Spicy Beef Noodle Soup was at "Taiwanese Beef Noodle" back in the day, the one that was almost 24/7 on Granville. Granted I was probably pretty drunk cuz I never eat there during "normal" dinner hours. They had like this INTENSE spicy soup (which was more Miss than Hit) ... so I've also been there and the spicy soup tasted like boiled water ... service was terribad too. The inconsistency ruined it!
LSD is great for value and it's the quantity is huge!... but it's definitely not the best bowl I've ever had. The noodle was pretty good, thick and just the right chewy texture but the soup flavour wasn't very good..
I've also walked by that Chef Hung place a couple times but I was crunched for time so there was no way I was gonna line-up like an hour to get in... but after reading the reviews on here (in the other thread) I'm glad I haven't since it doesn't seem to be worth it.\
Also there seems to be a general consensus that:
Taiwan Beef Noodle King at Oak & 67th has got some spicy, flavourful broth. I will definitely be checking that out when I have time!
Anyone try "Corner 23" by King Ed and Cambie? What's your take on that place?

Which one did you go to?
There's this one stand with an old hag that charges $7'ish for next to nothing. Rip off and it tastes like crap!

i dont recall the exact name but it was near the windows facing the library
every time im there it was always a chick in her 20s or so (no old hag)
its about $8 or something for a rather big portion
im 6'2 and 190lbs and it fills me up
i would recommend trying the medium spicy one since its rather hot as u keep eating it

Went to Taiwan Beef Noodle King during lunch today, got the standard beef noodle soup. Was delicious, the broth was amazing and a good amount of beef.
Which is the super spicy beef noodle soup? I only saw Hot & Sour or XO Spicy Soup, not sure which one it was, so got the regular one.

Maybe it is the XO spicy, can't remember, haven't gone in a while. Got me feeling like it tomorrow though...

I order the Beef Noodle Soup with Beef Tendon. The soup base was full of flavor, the beef shank and tendon was cooked right, and the noodles were chewy. I think they are handmade?
It's the best I've had so far in Van, better than Lao Shan Dong, Chef Hung, No. 1 Beef Noodle, Huang's Beef Noodle, Corner 23. Any other suggestions?

Just came back from Taiwan a few months ago ... ever since then every bowl of Beef Noodle in Vancouver has been below-average ... couldn't even finish it cuz so disappointed...
Which place has the best SPICY beef noodle ... really craving the kick in the "ma la" version, but it seems like nobody makes it like that, everywhere I order spicy only ends up drizzled with chili oil and it's not spicy at all ... |
