ilvtofu 07-28-2009 09:12 PM

Costco I believe has a cheaper one,
Try craigslist, I bought mine used last year for $200 it's a toyotomi and it's excellent, bought a 2nd one today at future shop for $450 before taxes, and its 12000 btu so good enough for a decent sized room.

+1.

I would actually pay a little extra and get a mid end unit instead of a cheap one.

also apparently you should wait about 4 hours if you bring it home in ur car sideways (not right side up) something about the freon

I'm happy with my haier one I just bought at future shop today, Extended warranty was like $40 or $10 a year so i was like y not? XD
Probably fucked myself over there..

Gumby 07-28-2009 10:52 PM

Fuck, I saw AC units everywhere last week. Now that I want one, lots of stores are sold out...

moomooCow 07-28-2009 10:56 PM

On a related note, i'm looking to get some window fans ( the ones that can be intake or exhaust ?? ) to set up some good circulation. Any idea if these would be in stock and which one to look for? TIA!

Jermyzy 07-28-2009 10:56 PM

For the portable ones, do you just stick the exhaust hoses out the window?

OriginalJC 07-28-2009 11:09 PM

i picked up my 12000BTU unit from Futureshop 4 months ago, when there was alot to choose from and the price was $399. I saw a few weeks ago the same model was $699 at FS hehe.

LOL at my wife telling me to throw our perfectly good A/C unit in the spring because it was taking up space in the garage.

Most of the decent ones come with a panel so that no outside air comes in :)

Hmm both of mine are dual tube, but i just chose to use one tube XD, shouldn't matter for the intake neways, You can definitely hear them think idling civic from the outside volume level? lol, they're not so loud u can't talk over it though it's okay depends how big ur place is

Yup but some panels need to be modified depending on your window size and dimensions.
