My favourite place started selling vietnamese subs again.

Just tasted one, tasted just as good as I remembered it years ago.

3 dollars a sub, good flavour to it.

Kim Chau,
Near cedar cottage pub, On kingsway, near Clark. (Just half a block up from kingsway and knight heading west)

小小 is Au Petite Cafe. Heads and shoulders above all other subs in Vancouver. Either my mom brings some home or I go get one almost every other week!
I never heard that much hype about it, so it's not overhyped to me ... but then again. I think they deserve the hype!

Damn I want another one now!

Edit: After carefully re-reading the entire thread it seems my post wasn't very necessary as there are many others on here already vouching for my favourite Viet Sub!

Meowjin 09-25-2009 12:21 AM

there use to be a good place next to bob's submarine... they moved locations and it went downlhill ;(

Most satisfying one I've had is the Grilled Pork Sub at CAMBIE/BROADWAY PHO (aka Pho Kim "purple neons" 24hrs).

It's good cuz they toast the bun and the Nammer lady who is there all the time makes them really good when they actually have bread in stock.

this place is actually surprisingly good for their subs! their phos are pretty shitty but when they have bread definitely get the subs!!

and +1 for au petit cafe! they deserve the hype and definitely worth the $1 extra over the other places.

bale sucks.

I go to a place called Nha Trang for my vietsubs. Always order Chicken or Pork ones, so bored of dac biet.

Nice place I dropped my wallet one time at the restaurant and they called me (I left my number in there). When I went to go retrieve it, checked and all my money was in there so I tried to reward the person who found it, but she refused to take it. So next time I went I made sure the girl who found it served me, and left a $30 tip on a $5.98 order lol

Derek_N84 02-05-2010 07:30 PM

+1 for Nha Trang !

I love the chicken sub! Its like crack! They use the lemon grass grilled chicken and you get some very decent sized chunks in there too!

I live 5 minutes walking down the road from Hen Long, and 5 up the road from Banh Mi Tay Do. There's also a third place, next to the Aling Mary's Filipino store on 140th in Surrey, but I haven't had a viet sub in like 5 years so I don't know how good any of the three places are. But when I do go to Hen Long to pick up BBQ pork for dinner, the subs look REALLY good.

Any suggestions for what sub I should break the hiatus with? The sub I had 5 years ago was the ONLY one I ever had!

Meowjin 02-25-2010 10:42 PM

xiu mai is good. (meatball)

i personally like pate and egg

gabbergabber 03-08-2010 09:31 PM

Au Petit Cafe, Empress Cafe, Ba Le on fraser and kingsway. I lived off these as I used to go to tutor around there :P
