When theres rain, you slow down, when theres snow you go even slower. It's common sense if you don't have any then stay off the road.

I drove with Eagle GS-D3's that were on 2 years too long... much past the wear bar, and cracked in 100's of places... no probs...

this rainfall, i have fairly new Direzza DZ101's... and i have to say, im impressed by the GS-D3's wet performance, factoring in the "newness" of the DZ101.

Yesterday was a little slippery. My problem are the roads where the trucks have dug ruts, so my 265s don't make full contact in the rut, and the slippery roads are made even worse.

wtf? I never get this slippery thing. I dun feel the road being any different than say 2 weeks ago.

It's usually a sign of FWD. ;D

When traction is poor, wheel hop can happen pretty easily on FWD regardless of the age/condition of the vehicle. The largish engines in minivans these days tend to have enough torque to break front traction on throttle alone when it's slippery.

Yes you can cause the wheels to spin in a minivan, yet they shouldn't hop. Wheel hop means your suspension cannot keep the tires to the payment, so either the minivan has a shitty suspension (possible) or the suspension is worn and needs replacement (more likely).

Think about this: if you have wheel hop on hard acceleration, what's going to happen under hard braking?

No, no and no. Not large intentional ones anyways. Inadvertent tire spin, yes. Inadvertent wheel hop, yes. Wheel hop in competition, yes. I have launched aggressively in FWD in a new (my!) car in low traction conditions and have had wheel hop.

Agree with the bold, except for the paYment part ;). Wheel hop is another way of breaking traction.

However, weight transfer plays a role too. During the recent rainfall, I hopped my front tires on a start up a medium-sized hill. The car has less than 50k on it and most would think it doesn't have a "shitty" suspension (it's a mazda fwiw).

I'm not sure where you're going with this. Under acceleration in a FWD car, weight is transferred to the rear which is in part why FWD sucks for performance driving (reduced front traction).

Under braking in any car, weight is transferred to the front.
