The hst is going to help us recover from the economic downturn faster, while not taking away from our many social amenities, which is surprising because usually the liberals have no problems cutting our social fat, so this is a nice change. I think if you understand economics and the cyclical nature of world finance you will see that a move like this has a lot less impact on peoples standards of living, not to mention it will help us get back to a place where tax cuts may be a viable option again. Personally I don't need much of any social assistance so i would rather go without and not pay the tax for everyone else, but I am a nice, democratic, and liberal person so I know that this option is generally the best route for us to go.
