^ Don't waste your money on the Digital 3D. Trust me! Just buy the Imax tickets 3 days in advance online.

Yes, still packed everywhere. #1 at the box office for the fourth week straight. I'd buy a ticket online a couple of days earlier, or at least a couple of hours earlier for non-IMAX 3D like we did the other day. And get in early. Real early.

Saw it in Imax 11:30 show in richmond on sunday
Bought tickets on tuesday, they were sold out by friday morning, went with 3 people. Showed up at 10, was like 10th in lineup, they let in people at 10:30.

Got nice middle/middle seats.

3 hours later, walked out out of the theater amazed. Def recommend watching it at least in 3D theaters, don't wait until DVD

Went to the IMAX on Sat in Langley and it was still sold out. I bought tickets online in advance so it wasn't a problem for me. So anyone wanting to see it in IMAX, I recommend you buy tickets online (a couple days before the show).

Also I arrived at the theater 45mins early and still had to sit in the front

watched this awhile ago now and just wanted to say: avatar was super entertaining for a movie that is completely unoriginal. james cameron must have done something right

sure there's lots of criticism about it, but it's making shit loads of money and that's all that really matters in the industry.

Just watched it and loved it. Saw it in Richmond 1130am show. No line up was there half hour early and walked right in and had my choice of seats Maybe 20 ppl already there max. But, as I was walking out of movie the next showing 300 was a line already and I was out 45 mins early. So, if you dont want to wait watch the morning show.

Gonna go back next week again. AIYIYIYIYIYIYI

Yeah, here's the thing: it's not a NEW story... but then what is anymore?

But it's a GOOD retelling of a much-retold story... and let's face it, the visuals are incredible.

And here's the thing about the 3D: the week before, we saw Sherlock Holmes in "Digital 3D"... that was pretty good, and for the most part the 3D was well-played, but there were spots that were gimmicky as well; places where they threw something right in your face just to show off, "Ooo, look what we can do in 3D!". Not a lot of them, and they weren't entirely out of place, but most of those instances were still gimmicky.

Avatar didn't have any of that. The 3D wasn't put in there TO BE the star of the show. Nowhere (that I can recall anyway) did it feel like Cameron was just going, "Ooo, look what I can do in 3D!" It's a complaint that's often leveled against CG in general, especially with big-action films - the the effects ARE the star and the storyline is just a weak vehicle for them. Well with Avatar, the 3D - and CG as a whole - is used subtly and near perfectly to simply enhance what is, again, a GOOD retelling of a much-retold story.

I saw it with my sister a couple weekends ago in the digital 3D. She saw it with her mom the next weekend in IMAX 3D and was blown away. I'm REALLY looking forward to checking out that version!

the prop-based fighters resembled Terminator style hunterkiller ships?

the main command ship where that crazy war-mongering colonel was based resembled the marines drop ship in Aliens?

floating mountains..er.. World of Warcraft Nagrand?

Mushroom area ..er.. World of Warcraft Zangarmarsh?

The big big big tree...er... Teldrassil?

the big red flying dragon thingy that he had to tame...er.. level 80 elite?

hahahaha.. ok ok i'm done. sorry for any spoilers.

Saw it Friday in Imax and it was good.

It was way too long. I fell asleep for a good 15 minutes during the middle portion of the movie and only woke up because a co-worker nudged me.

yeah.. at 1.6 billion box office right now, I don't see how this film wont have any trouble surpassing Titanic.
