| Nissan bashes Chevrolet Volt, claims 367mpg equiv LeafEV green mobile
So basically nissan started shit with chevrolet by whooping their prized potential miracle car, Volt, with their even better LeafEV. Nissan also makes GTR's which have always kicked anything chevrolet came out with, so this adds to the fire that start way back. Comments anyone? Quote:

Nissan Leaf = 367 mpg, no tailpipe, and no gas required. Oh yeah, and it'll be affordable too!
Given that the methodology of how the feds will ultimately arrive at the official mileage numbers (or mileage equivalents) for many of these next-gen greenmobiles is not yet finalized, we'll take all the hype and scoreboard pointing with a grain of salt until we see actual, final numbers posted at FuelEconomy.gov. (Nissan says its 367 mpg figure was derived by using the Department of Energy formula.)
In any case, a Twitter spitball fight between GMBlogs and NissanEVs over this stuff would be kind of entertaining to watch. Sorta like the nerdy opposite of the ZR1 vs. GT-R debate. | source: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/11/n...lent-for-leaf/ |

The Chevy Volt still looks far far better than this... thing.
Why do hybrids and electric vehicles generally all tend to look like the bastard spawn of Pugs and Rottweilers?

I'm assuming that "Shape" is the most aerodynamic one. Hence why most of the Japanese manufactures use it as a baseline.

Looks like ass though, but on the other hand, if your all about the environment saving, celeb trend following lingo, who gives a crap what you drive in terms of looks. For all you care, your car can look like a piece of turd from a mule's arse if Leo Dicap is driving it and saving 1000 african children per year from acid rain.

Not really, it is the easiest way to reach the optimal cd.. but it is optimized for ease.
The new MB E class can get to Cd better than Prius etc, they just have to add a few tricks and aerodynamic aids.. eg boarded up grills, aerodynamic aid to wheels, mainly to tuck in the tires.
Look Volt, if you ran out of juice, you still have the gas engine.. vs Nissan you are SOL.
Not to mention for Nissan a crap load of stuff is still under development. It is like comparing a 486 laptop with a Pentium M laptop. Quote:

You'd have to be retarded to think that the GTR is better than the Corvette.
And just because there hasn't really been any GTR VS 911/Vette talk in a little while..
Corvettes/911's get Pussy for less
GTR's gets little Asian boys
And plus. Nissan lied about the Nurburgring times. I'm calling BS on their baseless claim that this POS is like omg totally awesome GTR La~! ^.~

How are they considered "green" anyway? They use coal as powersource.

More like energy independence for the US.. there are tons of coal in the US. in fact more than they know what to do with it.
Current government thinking is if we use less oil, we don't have to rely on the Middle East. US can always conquer Canada easily. Quote:

Just out of curiosity, is there a study showing that burning coal to produce the power to drive the car produces less pollutants than burning pump gas, for the same driving distance?
What I am trying to get at is that, unless the coal-fired powerplants that were built prior to the 90s have adopted new emission control measures to reduced the amount of pollutants they produce, the vehicles that rely on those powerplants for power won't exactly be environmentally-friendly and would put more stress on the powergrid.

Good! I hope they succeed.
At the same time, I hope they would improve the look on that vehicle...

But the topic is about cars.
Some people buy GTR's(like say a R32) just to "beat" other cars, but when a group of GTR's are on the touge, they get their ass tailed by a 79 Camaro.
You can't pass someone when they're laying down a smokescreen just for fun. Even with all the awesome that is ATTESA, GTR's still drive into ditches.
But back to the topic.
How would you measure MPG if it doesn't use fuel?
Just how "green" is this car compared to the Volt?
Last I remember, to make a Prius, it created more pollution than to make a Hummer H2.
