If they wanted to upscale this car to that price range, they shouldn't reuse the Taurus name. I don't doubt that the vehicle itself is a nice car; however, back then it was competing with midsize Camry and Accord and now it's competing with fullsize cars under the same name?

They should just reuse the name "Five Hundred".

They failed at marketing when they keep changing the name of their cars and not spend enough on letting people know that the name changed. All the American car makers keep changing the names of the cars and no one can keep up with it all. The average consumer will get confused and just go out and buy a Camry.

Anyways that Taurus is nice. If Ford don't do fleet sales of the new Taurus then more people will want to buy one. No one wants to buy a car that rental car companies or taxi companies uses.

Mugen EvOlutioN 08-26-2009 07:25 PM

holly fucking hell

$50g for a taurus? ford must be on crack

the last couple gen taurus sold like ass, basically extinct on the road

$50g ? dear lord

the front and the interior aint half bad, but the rear looks like a cheap ass focus

if the car was price around $28-35g depending on trims, it aint bad

but for fucking $50g? G35x, 09 TL, 3 series or 5 series hell no one will complain spending an extra $6-10g for a E class over a $50g FORD, we are talking taurus here

faint

Rich Sandor 08-26-2009 07:34 PM

As far as I know there will no large fleet sales of the SHO and very very few non-SHO Tauruses will be kicking around. It will be a rare car relative to the BMW's and other similar imports.

The employee price on a $53,000 SHO is $48,500. The LTD (non-SHO) is sigificantly cheaper.

Not everyone here agrees on Ford's strategy with the car, but considering how Ford is eating up market share right now and turning profits while others are suffering - I'm going to say they probably know what they're doing better than anyone else.

Hondaracer 08-26-2009 07:37 PM

that steering wheel is right out of the F150's

and yea for 50K who the fuck is going to buy this thing? if they had priced it reasonably they could have sold many, but for that price thats rediculous

BEEB 08-26-2009 07:40 PM

it would be great to see more detail pictures like suspension from underneath, exhaust/muffler parts, some engine/intake mainfold detail pic.

Rich Sandor 08-26-2009 07:41 PM

Completely different steering wheel from the F150's.

I can take more pics of it (the underside, engine, etc) tomorrow in the sunlight.

I hope everyone understands this is the fully loaded SHO model. The regular 'limited' Taurus that most people will be buying will be a lot less money. Like in the high 30's low 40's. There will not be many SHO's and they WILL sell for very close to MSRP - or Family Plan if people are smart enough to buy them before it goes back up to MSRP.

!LittleDragon 08-26-2009 08:21 PM

I'd buy one. People don't understand this car. The SHO is all about the engine.

SkinnyPupp 08-26-2009 08:39 PM

Somebody paid $53,000 for that?

Jesus H. Christ I am appalled.

the rear looks like a $25g car

1990TSI 08-26-2009 09:29 PM

wow.

I was hoping to have somethin nice to say about this car since ford is the only american car company even trying anymore, and I respect that!..... but no. nothing good here.

I'm sure it's quick, but I doubt it's as quick as the other cars in it's price range that will handle better while looking good.

What's with the interior?! I hate to sound like timpo and all, but a 20k hyundai has a nicer interior than that!

Fail on ford :(

ilvtofu 08-26-2009 09:35 PM

I think I'd still rather have a CTS for 40k or a G8 GT for 35k, I just can't see paying 53k for a taurus... Although I see the SHO selling cause there is sort of a niche market for it, but it doesn't look the part, it's a good looking car don't get me wrong, but needs something special, more flare IMO

CTS selling yes, taurus has never sold shit in history. What makes u think this one will sell like hot cake as if its mazda 3. Anyone wonna shell out $50g BEFORE FUCKING TAXES buying a taurus needs to shoot themself in the head, no seriously

The SHO starts at $48,000 or about $53,000 loaded w/ options and destination & delivery.

Cheaper than a Lincoln MKS and has more power, with all the same options and features available.

the motor is the key attraction for this car, but wow...$48k

thats a real stretch

BNR32_Coupe 08-26-2009 10:01 PM

thats a decent ride FO SHO!!

but that whip would look tyte with some 20's FO SHO!!

AsBannedAsItGets 08-26-2009 10:29 PM

I could hop on the Ford SHO bandwagon bashing but everything I wanted to say has already been said.

BNR32_Coupe 08-26-2009 10:45 PM

^ FOrd SHO YO

!Aznboi128 08-26-2009 11:07 PM

i got to admit newer ford's are freaking awesome

Meowjin 08-27-2009 02:49 AM

Acura TL SH-AWD - 53k MSRP (~300)
G37x - 45k MSRP (~330 hp)
BMW 530i xdrive - 68k MSRP (300hp) (and i'm being generous here because the 550i costs 80k)
CTS-4 - 45k (~270 Hp)
Ford Taurus SHO -53k (~365 hp)

Am I the only one that doesn't see anything wrong with the price?

Meowjin 08-27-2009 02:54 AM

Grats paying 30k more on a bmw logo =)

Are you the only one who hasn't looked at the pictures yet?

Harvey Specter 08-27-2009 03:32 AM

Wow, @ $53,000 and wow @ how ugly this car is. What's shocking to me is Ford can produce sexy cars for the EU market but when it comes to NA they produce cars that scream rental. And for $53,000, maybe even less now, you can get a SRT-8 with 425hp.

kumbo1 08-27-2009 05:13 AM

I love how majority of people on revscene bash a car they haven't even seen in person yet.

Bet if you put a import's badge on it everyone will be prasing how good it looks and what a good deal, revscene is just a bunch of haters.

Great68 08-27-2009 07:18 AM

Wow what a let down, it looked better in the intial release pictures.

The Fusion is a WAY better looking car, they should have made an SHO version of that.
